"Come on, are you telling me there's no way to help those people?" The lady asked her boss.

"I'm sorry. I really wish there was, but it's too late."

"Wait, too late?"

"Yeah, the deadline passed."

"You mean they could've had her this whole time?"

"Yeah, if Cheryle had passed the request filled out to me, I could've done something, but it's just been sitting on her desk."

"Seriously?"

"She even told me that they never filled one out, so I didn't do anything." The lady felt herself  get more and more upset.

"Are you serious?"

"Yeah and it's unfortunate because that girl is going through God knows what." The lady sat down and rubbed her head. "Not to be rude or insensitive, but we get a lot of children with this type of story. Why is this girl so close to your heart?"

"I don't know. It's something when I look at her. I feel like there's something that I need to do, but I can't figure it out. Almost like I need to make sure she's okay."

"I've had that feeling."

"You have?"

"Yeah. It's hard to deal with, especially when you don't know what you're supposed to be doing." She wiped her face.

"I just....it's something about her." A knock came to the door.

"Ms. S. Your son is here."

"Okay. Thanks for talking with me."

"No problem. Don't lose that feeling. It's what makes good people in this world." She left out and went to her desk.

"Hey, Mama." She smiled at her son.

"Hey. Did you have a good time with your dad?"

"Yeah. He took me to the carnival and I rode the roller coasters. One went up so high, I could see across four streets."

"Jesus. Why must you do such dangerous things? You're only twelve."

"Because they're fun, woman." She rolled her eyes.

"You be endangering my baby, B."

"No, I don't." He kissed her cheek. "I'll see you later."

"Bye, dad." They dapped and hugged.

"Alright. Sit and do your homework while I...."

"Ms. S." The lady turned around and saw the little girl. "I'm back again." She hugged her.

"I see. What happened?" The little girl looked down.

"They didn't like me....again." Her heart broke.

"Well, I like you." She smiled.

"Ohhh, crayons. Can I color too?"

"You have to ask him. They're his." The little girl turned to the boy.

"Can I color with your crayons?"

"Sure." She climbed on a chair next to him and he handed her a crayon with some paper. She kicked her legs and started coloring.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome." She smiled.

"My name's Janet. What's your name?"
