The stars he left behind

A crescent moon failed to lift the darkness of the night
Though tried and tried, as hard as he might

Though in the night sky, he seemed beautiful among all
Though even in the  black, he didn't fail to enthrall

On the dark background, as if a smile
He rose a bit earlier, and stood for a while

Partly covered by a cloud, complemented by a star
Gazed at his dear earth, from the sky afar

From whatever little strength, foster would he
Illuminate the earth he did, so that she could see

And such was their love, that even as he waned
The earth was all he thought of, till his last breath sustained

And the love among the two, would always me remind
Though engulfed in the dark, the stars he left behind
