The night time moon

The sun is yet to rise
And the moon with darkness stood
The dawn is yet to come
The world as if wearing a hood

The stars kept twinkling so
Bright and randomly placed
The moon with a royal glow
The darkness, certain blessed

The world yet in slumber
Had shunned the blackened night
The night, who alone had known,
And heard of the darkness' plight

And the moon seemed the only one
Whose heart could reach the dark
For him to take upon willingly so
A journey no one would embark

In thick and thin he stood
Stood while he waxed and waned
In winters and summers alike
Stood all the while it rained

Entire life of his, the moon,
Upon the darkness bestowed
She, in a smile, forever clad
And for her, the moon has glowed
