In the aftermath casita squeaks like a wounded goodbye, the shutters of the house fall and the candle goes out.

“No…” Mirabel whispers.

Isabela feels that most of her worries are dissipating because the worst is over. She sees the candle go out and she doesn’t really care. For all she wants the candle should have gone out sooner. Isabela let Mirabel out of her hug. Then a sharp pain invades her with force in her left rib and in her left arm; suddenly she remembers that she is injured. She feels something trickle down her rib, her energy going out. And when she looks, there’s a, not so big, piece of wood impaled, but there’s…

A lot…a LOT of blood…

All the family members are racing in and calling them. Isabela can barely sit upright when she falls backwards, breathing heavily.

Mirabel then leaves her dazed state, and looks over at her sister. Mirabel moved to her sister's side looking very worried and confused. How and when did that happen?

"Isa! What happened?! Are you okay?!" she screams, scared and worried for her sister.

Isabela looks at her a little dazed.

"Isabela! Mirabel!" Julieta runs to them worried with the family on her heels. However when she spots all the blood over Isabela, she almost feels like fainting. When she is next to her daughters she immediately falls to her knees.

"Mom give her food!" Mirabel tells her.

Julieta cuts a piece of an arepa that she had on her apron, and gives it to Isabela.

"Isa, honey, eat it." Julieta tells her, worried.
Agustin arrives at Julieta 's side.

Everyone's face has a deep frown of worry.

Everyone waits, hoping and believing that her wounds will heal, but...

Nothing happens.

"Maybe it wasn't enough, eat it all, honey" desperate Julieta tries to give another piece to Isabela, but Isabela grabs her hand and shakes her head.

"Mami, the magic's gone." she says.

Julieta's eyes crystalize, and the tears in her eyes spill down her face. Mirabel shakes her head.

"No, no, no, no, this isn't happening, this wasn't supposed to happen. Isa- No! This is all my fault, I did thi-" Her voice trembles and her eyes are full with tears.

Her oldest sister, her perfect older sister was here dying, and all because of her. A hand on her cheek stops her. Mirabel blinks, her tears cascading and looks at Isabela.

"Mira, it's okay," she smiles. "Mariposa, I'm so, so sorry for everything I did to you. I didn't mean one single thing I said to you."

"Isa, stop! Y-your'e not d-dy-dying." Mirabel denies.

"Mira..." Isabela calls her little sister, but she doesn't look at her. Mariposa, look at me..." Isabela's hand still rests on Mirabel's cheek. When the little sister hears her old, affectionate nickname, she immediately looks at her older sister, eyes wide, tears spilling out of them. "I did my job as a big sister. "said Isabela. Her eyes are now full of tears. "Stay by your side, protecting you..."

"Issy, please..." Tears fall down in Isabela’s head, but she smiles after hearing the old nickname that only one person called her, her little sister...

"Although I wish I had done it more than once..." Isabela pauses, feeling more exhausted than ever. Her hand drops from Mirabel’s face

Every family member was in tears by now. Isabela turns to see her parents.
