21: Reaper Kingdom

Once the duo had slept and it was night time, they had walked together to the kingdom of reapers. Rei looked stunned at how much of a haze it was over what was supposed to be a large forest. "So this place isn't supposed to be?"

"Nope, but they forced themselves upon this world and tried to over take it-but it hasn't worked in their favor yet." Ria said with a small smile

Rei laced his hand with hers. "Well whatever the cause may be, I will be beside you forever. Nothing will ever keep me from you Ria."

She smiled a bit more hearing what he said. "Thank you Rei, it means lots to me that you'd say that. Let's go, the sooner that we go in the sooner we can get this nonsense over with."

"As you wish Princess."

When they had gotten into the reaper kingdom, Rei noticed that there was a dark hazy mist around the entire kingdom. It was as the kingdom was hiding something within the dark haze. The entire kingdom was dead silent which made it seem like a ghost town. Rei looked to Ria curiously. "Is this place always like this?"

"At night time-yeah. They aren't nocturnal creatures even though we see perfectly in the pitch dark of night." Ria said with a nod of her head

"I see, do you believe those who claim to be your parents will be up at this time?"

"They should be it was around this time yesterday they stormed through my true parents place." Ria said with a nod of her head

"Ah...I see. So just where is the place where those two live anyways?"

"The estate where they live is in the middle of town, it takes up most of the center of the kingdom which is nonsense." She said with a sigh "The route we're going is the route that I took to leave this place."

"Very well then,  I will trust you and let you lead us there." Rei said before he kissed the top of her hand softly

The rest of the walk there was silent until they were stopped by a black cat with four different tails swaying side to side, who sat in the middle of the pathway. Ria went up to the cat and petted between its ears. "Greetings Salem, how are you?"

"I am worried that you came back, you should have stayed away from this place Princess."

"I am aware of that Salem, but the king and queen of this kingdom broke a written promise between them and my true birth parents yesterday. I wish for them to face their treason."

"Oh? I had no idea there was such thing between the kingdom of Santa-Marie and this one. If this is truly so, allow me to assist you and your lover to the kingdoms heart." Salem said as he stood up showing that the mere black cat was actually a black displacer panther. 

Ria smiled at Rei "Rei this is Salem-a displacer panther. He helped me get out of this place so I didn't get lost. He is willing to assist us with getting to the heart of the kingdom."

"And how does he intend to do that?" Rei asked curiously

Ria went on top of Salem with a grin "He's going to let us ride on his back." She said as she held out her hand to him

Rei looked nervous at first which Salem noticed, so he went up to Rei and stared at him which made Rei step back a bit. "Don't you worry vampire, I don't eat your kind. Anyways you are the lover to my friend the princess, I would never cause her strife."

Rei stepped towards the cat with a hand out only for the panther to nuzzle its head against  his hand to show that he was harmless. Rei petted the cat slowly and softly before he was able to trust the cat. Rei then went behind Ria as he wrapped his arms around her tightly before Salem turned himself around and was quick to run through the kingdom's cities. Rei kept his tight hold upon Ria as he looked around at all of the buildings that had no light on in them. 

As they got to the center of the kingdom Rei was able to see a large estate that was gated all the way around with guards surrounding it-protecting those who resided within it. Salem looked at Rei and Ria. "This is as far as I can go without being harmed, you'll have to walk the rest on foot princess."

Ria nodded her head. "Alright, thank you for getting us this far."
