The taming of the shrew - Chapter 4

Pete woke up, had a shower and then went downstairs for some breakfast. Harry was already sat in the living room with a bowl of cereal on his lap and reading a newspaper. 

"Good morning," said Harry, without looking up.

"Morning to you too," said Pete whilst pouring milk into his own bowl of cereal. He sat down next to Harry and started eating.

"You know what:?" Pete said, "I'm gonna marry that girl, then tame her in the meanest way possible!"

Harry snorted and said, "That's not how you should treat a lady, not even Katherine, I mean, just because she behaves like a wild animal it doesn't mean she is one,"

Pete and Harry both burst out laughing, 

"Do you have her number?" Pete asked.

"Yeah actually, let me just write it down," Harry said, scribbling down some numbers on a scrap piece of paper. He handed it to Pete and left the room to get ready for the day.

Katherine heard her mobile phone ring, she picked it up and spoke,

"Yes?"

"Hi, wanna meet up later?" It was Pete's voice coming from the other end. Katherine was annoyed, but then she actually considered it for a second. What was wrong with being a little spontaneous? She knew that marriage was a big thing, but she had done some pretty mad things before.

"Hm," she mumbled.

"I mean, marriage is a big commitment, and it would be helpful if we got to know each other before we tie the knot, right?" Katherine could practically hear Pete's smirk through the phone.

"Whatever," she said.

"So, Starbucks at lunch?"

"Yeah whatever, bye," she said before hanging up. She smiled to herself. This should be interesting.

Logan knocked on the door of Brian's mansion, as he had arranged to visit Bianca. Brian opened the door and welcomed him in.

"Ah, Bianca told me that she was expecting someone!" Brian smiled at Logan.

"Yeah," said Logan, "gonna teach her some chords and that," he said, grinning as always. Bianca came down the twisted staircase, her face lit up when she saw Logan,

"Brilliant!" she said, "I'll show you the music room, then we can start," she smiled and took Logan's hand and lead him to the music room. Brian smiled to see Bianca this happy, and then remembered Katherine's shock wedding announcement. That really did shock him, Pete was the first man to even think about committing his life to his hot-tempered daughter!

Pete was sat at an outdoor table in Starbucks, waiting for the two Lattes he ordered to arrive. He smiled smugly to himself when Katherine approached the table. She was wearing her hair down, naturally wavy just like her sister's, and was wearing a short black dress with translucent black tights, and of course, matching black heels.

"Hey," Pete said, "I ordered us drinks,"

"Thanks," mumbled Katherine. A waitress came over and placed the drinks in front of Pete and Katherine before walking away.

"So, Kate," said Pete taking a sip from his hot drink, "Tell me a bit about yourself,"

Katherine snorted, "Well, I'm Katherine, not Kate, and I live with my dad and sister, mum passed away  when I was little. I'm a fashion designer and have my own brand. My career is my priority, seeing as I don't have any other great ambitions. What about you?" Katherine took a sip from her Latte.

"Well, I'm Pete, obviously. I was homeless until I moved in with Harry, I don't have a job, I don't have money, and it's all because my dad died and decided to leave me two pounds in his will. He'd always had a dry sense of humour."

"Oh, that's terrible," said Katherine. There was clear sympathy in her voice. Pete smirked, this really was working.

"So, you gonna marry me or what?" said Pete, breaking the silence. Without a second though, Katherine replied,

"Well, this could be great for publicity, so yeah, purely for business," Katherine got up and walked away, not yet feeling a hint of regret.
