"Lily...." James' voice came from above her, she opened her eyes.

"James" she smiled. " I didn't think you'd want to speak to me any more."

James wasn't listening, he repeated her name, but this time it was louder.

"Yes, James. I can hear you" she propped herself up on her elbows, frowning up at him.

"LILY!!" he shouted, concern in his eyes as he started shaking her repeatedly.

"I'M AWAKE JAMES!" she shouted, slapping at his hands.

"James?" Marlene's confused voice drifted over her.

"Marlene?"Lily asked rubbing her eyes and staring at her best friend. The confusion mirrored in her eyes.

"Why did you think I was James?" She asked her hands resting on her hips.

'Shit.' she thought, it was a dream.

"Erm, no reason?"Lily tried to brush it off, quickly hopping out of bed and heading towards the bathroom, but Marlene was not leaving this alone. She shouted through the door.

"Why did you think I was James, Lily?"Marlene's tone was playful, Lily sighed as she picked up her toothbrush. "Oh my god, were you dreaming about him?" She sounded ecstatic.

"What. Of course not!!" Lily poked her head around the bathroom door.

"Yes you were, don't even try to deny it" Lily had never seen Marlene so happy, her hair, which fell in long blonde waves was bouncing around her perfectly sculptured face and it infuriated her.

"Oh, I'm sorry what was that you were shouting the other night about Sirius?" Lily added harshly, shutting the door and carrying on getting ready.

"Lils...."Marlene's tone was laced with pleading. Lily finished brushing her hair, sighed deeply and emerged from the bathroom, looking straight at Marlene.

"I won't tell anyone if you won't?" She pulled out her hand, awaiting Marlene's response. Marlene took her hand and shook it, both grinning at one another.

"Right Lils, I'm gonna go get some breakfast before the match, come down when you're ready, yeah?" Marlene smiled and left Lily to get dressed.

As it was a Saturday, robes were not necessary so she changed into a red summer dress which flowed down to her knees. It was the start of June and the weather outside was becoming increasingly hotter by the day. She admired her reflection in the nearest mirror. 'Very appropriate for today's match' she thought. 'Now what to do, with my hair?' still fixated on her reflection, she fiddled around with it, getting more and more frustrated with herself by the second, unable to make a decision on how to style it.

"Why do I even care??" she cried towards her reflection in frustration. 'He's not my friend' she thought strongly, trying to affirm it in her own head. She pulled on her nearest pumps, left her auburn hair the way it lay, and with one last glance in the mirror, made her way down to the Gryffindor common room.

She walked quickly towards the portrait hole, anxious of bumping into James.

"Hey, Lily"Remus's voice came from behind her.

"Hey Remus" Lily beamed. She'd always gotten on with Remus, he seemed to be the only one who could at least, attempt, to reign in the other three "Marauders", as they liked to call themselves. Remus was tall and getting increasingly skinnier throughout the year, he was in retrospect, very beautiful, his hair was normally a tad on the messy side, but he had a kind face, and always managed to look good.
