As if by magic it was already Monday evening, James was getting the guest rooms ready for Remus and Peter, with little help from Sirius.
"I don't understand-" said Sirius getting caught inside the duvet as they tried changing the beds "why Bonny couldn't have just done it" he stood there, like a ghost and James couldn't help but laugh at his friend. He had no idea about muggle things, and how to generally fend for himself without the use of magic. "I genuinely think this is how I'm going to die" Sirius struggled against the duvet.
"For god sake,Padfoot" James sighed pulling the duvet back over his head, his hair static from the material. James picked the duvet up from the bed, meeting it with corners of the duvet sheet, Sirius's arm came out to help.
"I think you should leave the duvet alone, don't you?" he chuckled "You can take care of changing the pillows, that shouldn't be too hard for you" it took them a good half an hour to change both of the beds and apparently, changing the pillows was a lot harder for Sirius than James thought.
"You know" Sirius started as James finished fluffing the final pillow. "I think I did a pretty good job" he grinned at James who just rolled his eyes in disbelief.
Bonny bundled into the room to alert them that Remus and Peter had arrived. "Brilliant" Sirius grinned running down the stairs.
"Are you alright, master James?" Bonny inquired as James sat on the edge of the bed, she always knew when he was upset. Well, she had known him since he was a baby.
"I'm fine Bonny, don't worry" Bonny's hand was suddenly on his arm, causing him to look at her dead in the face.
"Mr Potter would be extremely proud of you, I hope you know that" James nodded, smiling weakly up at her.
"Come on prongs!!" Sirius' voice boomed from the stairs below. Bonny lifted her hand and took James's place on the bed as he ran down the stairs, a fake smile plastered across his face.
"Wormtail" he greeted Peter with a 'bro hug' as they would call it, the same affection was provided to 'Moony'. Once reacquainted, they all sat in a circle on the huge rug in the middle of the living room, talking and laughing for hours. Sirius and James lighting cigarettes every now and again, and Bonny bringing them food and drink to keep them happy.
"So who's coming tomorrow then?" Sirius asked, flicking the ash of his cigarette into the ash tray, exhaling a large plume of smoke towards the ceiling.
"Loads of ministry officials" James replied rolling his eyes as he took another drag. "They'll all act like they give a shit about our family and our loss when really, they couldn't give a toss, they're only coming because my father saved most of their lives, and they feel they're in his debt" the others stayed quiet, leaving James to vent. "Marlene and her little posse are coming too" James replied looking swiftly at Sirius.
"Including ..... Lily" Sirius grinned wickedly.
"I wouldn't count on it if I were you Padfoot"James replied leaning back against the armchair
"Debatable"
"You still haven't sorted things out with her?" Peter perked up, staring at him in disbelief.
"What's Evans' problem with me anyway?" James asked out loud ,closing his eyes, his index finger and thumb rested on his forehead as he took a final drag, stamping it out in the ashtray.
"Might be that she thinks you're conceited mate" Sirius barked putting his own cigarette out.
"Yeah maybe if you were a little less of a dick maybe she'd like you better" Peter offered.
