James jolted awake, his arm had slid off the side of the armchair. He glanced over at the clock on the fireplace, it was 8 am. Rubbing his eyes, he suddenly realized something was on his chest, he looked down in confusion.Lily's arms were curled around him, her head resting on his chest, and she was sound asleep, looking the most peaceful he'd ever seen her. Bending down slowly, he left her a light kiss on the top of her head, she stirred beneath him, clutching onto his top and breathing in an overwhelmingly familiar scent. 'Hang on' she thought. 'That's James' scent. Her eyes fluttered open immediately.

"Morning, Lils" James smirked. Her head was banging.

"Do you have to shout?" she moaned burying her face into his top.

"I wasn't shouting" he replied running his hand over his face.

"What time is it?"she mumbled against his shoulder.

"8 am" he replied "but I wouldn't attempt to-" too late, Lily had sat up too quickly, her head banging, she fell onto the common room floor, covering her face with her hands and dry sobbing into them. "I would say, I told you so" he began "but I never really got to finish my sentence"

Lily rolled over onto her side letting her hands fall away from her face as her hair moved to take their place, but not before she got a glimpse of the Fire Whiskey bottle. Flashbacks of last night rolled in like a train.

"Oh god, ohgodohgodohgod" she whined.

"What?" James asked calmly. "What is it?" he watched as Lily got up from her position on the floor, her facial expression had changed.

"Er- I have to um, leave" she replied slapping her hands against her sides and walking out towards the portrait hole before James could say another word. He sat on the couch for a couple of seconds in complete bewilderment.

"So Lils, eh" Sirius' voice came from behind the couch as he pulled off James' invisibility cloak.

"Can- you- not-shout" he shuddered, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Here's a glass of water, James" Peter passed it to him, looking smug.

"What have you done to it Wormtail?" he eyed the glass suspiciously. Peter's face turned dead pan.

"Now James, how dare you think such terrible things of me" Sirius was sniggering behind James.

"You're both a pair of shits" James pushed the water away.

"You and Lily looked rather cozy this morning" Sirius smirked, walking around the sofa to sit cross-legged in front of him.

"Eh"James replied, scratching the back of his head and yawning.

"You know what we mean, James" Peter wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.

"Er, where did you get this?" Sirius asked holding up the empty Fire whiskey bottle. Just like with Lily, events from the evening before came rushing back.

"Oh no" James jumped from the sofa, his banging head was the least of his worries. "I-er I need to go for a cig" he jumped over the back of the sofa gracefully and walked swiftly to the portrait, passing Marlene who gave him a small smirk.

'Oh crap, she's remembered what happened last night. Where will she be now? I know. I'll try the great hall first, surely she'll need some food?' He thought, hopeful, as he continued his way down the marble staircases.

"Oi, Potter" a greasy voice came from behind James, but he ignored it sliding down the bannister of the last few steps smoothly, half running towards the great hall. He skidded into the hall, grabbing hold of the door for support. There was no sign of Lily. 'Fuck ' he began biting the skin around his nails again, thinking of all possible hideouts of Lily Evans. 'Aha, the library, of course, why didn't he think of that first?.'
