It was early morning, or dusk, he couldn't tell from the light entering his cell.

The thought of escape was a reoccurring one. One that he was familiar with, one that had changed through the months as conditions changed.

Hideki wanted to escape. He wasn't the only one, some had given up, some had died trying, some were spared- and some still lulled over it, going over it again and again and again- but never acting on it.

Hideki was the lattermost. He had enough information to escape. But then again, he had gotten that information through Jun, so there was a good chance that it was a trap and that the man was waiting for the very day Hideki would go through with the one plan that could give him his freedom.

It's November. My birthday is near, I'll be 11 this year.

"...I want to eat cake, and get presents," Hideki muttered to himself, laying on the cold floor, tracing patterns into it. "I wonder what happened to that bunny plushie she gave me?"

Alarms blared, jolting Hideki out of his thoughts. The shrill sound reverberated through the walls of his dimly lit cell, signalling an unexpected disruption in the routine. He sat up, his heart raced, uncertainty and anticipation mingling in his mind.

Hideki calmed down eerily fast and stayed on the floor, still tracing patterns onto it, waiting for Jun to enter his cell and give him yet another trial.

Maybe, it would be a guard, escorting him to the showers or to the medic for his routine checkup.

His clothes were a T-shirt and shorts, all white. They'd be changed routinely whenever they got damaged. He couldn't pick his own.

His food was the same every day, only providing necessary nutrients.

It was a monotonous routine. Life outside was not.

He could choose if he wanted to watch TV or read a book. He could choose to colour a page or listen to music. He could choose to go outside to play in the park or listen to the birds outside. He could choose to stay late or leave, taking a detour to the convenience store for some snacks.

A child has a lot of wants. A child does not care for the needs.

He doesn't care if they're feeding him, if they're keeping him healthy or if they're giving him basic human commodities.

The alarms were still blaring. It was the first time something like this had happened, disrupting the routine Hideki had grown accustomed to over the years.

He looked up at the window again- it was daytime, and the sky had turned into a pale blue.

I want to see the entire sky again.

Hideki flinched at the loud sound of something colliding into his metal door. He stood up, prepared to summon a weapon. It was silent for a few more moments, the sound of the alarms filling the room. Then a piercing sound, something small shot through the lock. Hideki barely managed to avoid it, landing on the floor. A small hole had appeared right where Hideki's hand was resting not too long ago

Another loud sound, the metal door now had a large dent.

The feeling of anxiety slowly crept up on Hideki. He wondered if this was yet another trial. Did one of the other captains send someone to kill him? He vividly recalled the day Jun told him that he was going to be a successor. And being a successor meant a target on your back, a bounty on your head.

The metal door fell to the ground. A beast, taller than the door, leaned in to enter the dark room. Hideki's breath hitched.

The beast perked up, "Oi, I think there's someone here." The beast started scanning the room from the side opposite to Hideki.

A woman's voice from behind him inquired, "Do you think Dr. Vice hiding here somewhere?"

"Wasn't he seen in Eu-" The beast suddenly stopped, and Hideki stiffened. "Ryujin. There's a kid here."

A blue-haired women stepped into the room, shining a torchlight around, "Hunter, this isn't the time to be joking-"

Hideki winced as the light shone directly into his eyes, covering it instinctively. Ryujin's composed expression faltered for a second, before gaining her usual tranquil expression. Her long hair flowed when she took a step forward; the boy moved back a bit, still sitting.

"We're not going to hurt you," The woman assured, her voice calm and soft. "We're heroes."

Hideki's breath was shaky "H-heroes?" He mumbled, still on edge and unsure of what was happening.

"Mhm," Ryujin nodded, "Can I come closer?"

Hideki hesitated, but agreed, nodding his head. The woman took a few steps forward and stopped 3 feet away. She crouched to his level, "What's your name?"

"Kobayashi Hideki."

"Hideki," Ryujin smiled. "How long have you been here?"

"2 years," He answered quickly.

Ryujin's grip on the flashlight tightened, "I see. Hideki, can you come with us? We can get you to safety."

Hideki was fearful again. "J-Jun will-" He went silent again.

"Don't worry, that guy is nothing compared to All Might! He'll handle him, so don't be scared of Jun." Hunter assured.

"Where will you take me?"

"Out of here, of course. Where else?"

The outside didn't seem like a place that he would think about when he couldn't sleep anymore. It was right within his grasp.

"P-please. I just want to go outside." He was near tears, wanting to see the outside as fast as he could, lest it be a dream.

"No problem kid," The boy didn't even have time to react when Hunter suddenly took him into his arms. Hideki hadn't felt such warmth in years and his fur was so... fluffy...

He would've fallen asleep right there if it wasn't for the alarms still blaring. He had visibly relaxed though.

Hunter sighed as he stepped outside of the room, "Aren't I just great with children?"

Ryujin muttered an annoyed something in response as she exited. She then touched her earpiece, "Anita, why aren't those damn alarms off yet?"

A sound came from the earpiece, Ryujin rolled her eyes, "Whatever. Send us a map of the escape routes, we need to get outside as soon as possible. There's a civilian here. And tell the old man to find Jun as quickly as possible and keep him busy."

After a moment, Ryujin opened her phone, an entire map on it. She looked back at Hunter, "Keep up."

It took a few minutes, a few fights, but they were finally out. The building he was trapped in looked like a huge mansion, garden and all. It was surrounded by forest for miles.

Hideki glanced up at the sky, "Pretty..." The pale blue sky was dotted with clouds that looked as soft as cotton. It was so vast, that Hideki almost forgot how to breathe.

Hunter looked up at the sky with him, laughing. His voice resonated, creating a soothing vibration that coursed through Hideki's body, "Yeah, it's a good day, isn't it?"

It was just the calm before the storm, though.
