The monk stopped a few paces away, examining Raido with a scrutinising gaze. "I cannot permit you to advance to the upper floors without a test," he declared, his voice firm and unyielding. "I have been notified by my fellow brothers that a trainer with dark intentions has come seeking the Elder. We must ensure this does not happen unless the trainer proves himself."
Raido felt a surge of frustration. His hands balled into fists at his sides, and he gritted his teeth. "I don't know why the monks are saying this about me," he snapped back, his voice tinged with anger. "The only reason I'm here is to help someone in need."
The monk remained unphased by Raido's evident displeasure. His expression did not soften. "In that case," he replied calmly, "you should have no problem proving yourself. Without passing this test, you will not be permitted to advance."
Raido's frustration simmered, but he also felt a spark of excitement. The prospect of a battle against a monk who trained their bond with their Pokémon to such a high level was enticing. It was a chance to demonstrate his own strength and sincerity. Taking a deep breath, he nodded, his determination shining through.
"Fine," Raido said, his voice resolute. "I'll prove myself. I'll show you that my intentions are pure."
The monk's eyes narrowed slightly, but he gave a nod of approval. "Very well," he said, stepping back to give them some space. "Prepare yourself, trainer."
The monk reached for his Poké Ball, his movements deliberate and precise. "I am Brother Takashi," he introduced himself. "My partner and I will test the depth of your bond and the purity of your intentions. Let us see if you are truly worthy."
Takashi's eyes were like steel, unyielding and focused. "Before we begin, know this: our battles are a reflection of our spirit and intent. If your heart wavers, so too will your Pokémon."
Raido's heart pounded as he considered his options. His eyes drifted to Nidoran, who chirped encouragingly at his side. But then he remembered the new member of his team, the one who had shown such resolve and bravery in the caves. This could be a perfect opportunity to build their bond and give Tyrunt its first taste of battle.
Gripping Tyrunt's Poké Ball, Raido looked at it intently. "Tyrunt," he thought to himself, "it's now your chance to show that same resolve you showed in the caves. This is a great opportunity to build our bond together in your first-ever battle."
He looked up at Brother Takashi, determination burning in his eyes. "I accept your challenge," he said firmly. "And I'm going to use Tyrunt."
Brother Takashi raised an eyebrow, a hint of curiosity in his otherwise stern expression. "An interesting choice," he remarked. "Let us see how well you and your Tyrunt can fight together."
With a flash of light, Tyrunt emerged from the Poké Ball, landing on the wooden floor with a powerful thud. The ancient Pokémon shook its head and let out a fierce growl, eyes blazing with excitement.
Brother Takashi gave a slight nod. "Very well. Tyrogue, prepare yourself," he commanded, gracefully release the Pokeball in his hand. In a flash of red light, his Tyrogue stepped forward, adopting a ready stance, eyes locked onto Tyrunt.
Raido took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment. He had to prove his intentions were pure and his bond with Tyrunt was strong. He looked at his Pokémon and nodded. "Tyrunt, let's show them what we've got."
Tyrunt roared in response, its tail thumping the ground eagerly. The tension in the room was palpable as the other monks and trainers watched intently.
"Begin!" Brother Takashi called out, his voice echoing through the room.
