01. A hop, skip, and a timeline away

Two figures run across a warzone, it's chaos. One is clutching onto their bleeding abdomen while the other supports their weight.

The supporters hockey mask lifts, revealing Casey Jones Jr.

"I got you sensei. Stay with me" the boy breathes heavily while running, talking, and supporting all at the same time.

"You're a life saver, Casey Jones." says Future leo.

"I learned from the best." Casey replies. "Come on, we're almost there."

A few creatures called Krang hounds jump out at them, only to be forced back by orange energy in the form of Chains.

"Bad doggies!" Shouts a voice.

Another Krang hound is about to pounce at The two from behind when another blast of indigo travels through the air, striking the Creature back. Leonardo smiles soflty as the light travels by him towards the caster.

"Impeccable timing, You two. very dramatic." Leonardo smiles soflty at his younger brother and Wife.

Heidi gives him a soft smile and nods at him.

"Help him, Mistress Heidi, Michelangelo. He's hurt bad." Casey calls out to the two.

Leonardo gazes at the destruction around him as his carapace continues to bleed. Michelangelo and Casey watch concerned as leo closes his eyes in defeat, beleiving that all hope is lost.

Heidi rests a hand on her husbands shoulder. Leonardo puts his own on the one resting on his shoudler, taking it and holding it close to him.

"That's it. The resistance failed. The Krang won." Leonardo says in sadness. "But-but isn't over. We've still got a ninja's greatest weapon: hope. That and two badass mystic warriors. Mikey, we need a time gateway."

"It'll take everything I have." Mikechelangelo says.

"I know. But this is our last chance... It's our only chance." Leonardo pleads to his younger brother.

Michelangelo thinks for a moment before he nods and hovers to a distance away from the group.

"Wait, what's going on? Where is he going?" asks Casey.

Heidi motions for Casey to come closer.

"Casey listen..." Leo says. Heidi steps foreward and puts her hand on Caseys shoulder.

Michelangelo stands and spins in a circle, creating a ring of orange energy around himself with his extended leg. He generates orange mystic energy in his hands and thrusts his arms out in front of himself.

"The Krang first came to our planet through a mystic doorway. The Key that opened the doorway looked like this." Leonardo explaines

"Why are you telling me this?"

"Because Mikey's about to send you back in time to the day that the Key was stolen." Heidi tells the boy.

"Wait, he's gonna what?" exlaims a perplexed Casey.

A time gateway begins to form, but Michelangelos hands are increasingly afflicted by glowing golden cracks.

Heidi looks on at the little brother figure in front of her and sighs, a tear making it's way down her cheek. She looks at her own hands, the same had happened to her, scars in the form of cracks, running up her arm from the tips of her fingers, like a broken porcelain doll.

"The people who stole the Key opened the doorway for the Krang. You have to find it before that happens." Continues Heidi.

As Heidi explains this, Leonardo pulls out a photo. The photo displays a younger version of the group that once was. The photo shows the smiling faces of Heidi and April holding up their graduation certifactes of Eastlaird University, the turtles and splinter standing around them.

Leonardo stares at the image for a moment longer, tracing his fingers over him and slowly slidng down to Heidi, in the photo he had his hand around her waist and his head propped up on her shoulder. He smiles and flips the photo arounf, starting to draw out what the key to the doorway looks like.

"Find the Key." Heidi looks to her husband.

"Stop the Krang." Leonardo adds, looking back at her.

"But, Sensei-"

"Say it!" Leonardo says, putting a hand onto his shoulder a bit forcefully.

"Find the key, stop the kraang." Recites Casey. "I dont want to lose you two..."

Heidi speaks up "Casey, its not about us-"

Heidi is cut off by a Bright red Light shining down on them as the kraang Titan stands over them.

"They found us!" exlaims Casey.

Leonardo, Heidi, and Casey take out their weapons (or Hands), prepared to fight the Krang Titan standing and glaring above them.

"Mikey!" Leonardo reminds Michelangelo that they are running out of time.

Michelangelo exerts further and the glowing golden cracks in his skin spread. Closing his eyes and accepting his fate, Future Mikey continues to open the portal and screams in effort.

"Master Michelangelo, no! your gonna-" Casey doesn't even get time to finish before Michelangelo winks at Casey. The time gateway matures completely as Michelangelo disintegrates.

Leonardo holds Heidi close to him with his hand around her waist as she tries to stop her tears. Casey looks on on as Michelangelo fades away, heartbroken. Leonardo closes his eyes in great grief and sadness, but tearfully smiles, Heidi looks up at his smile and smiles softly herslef, wiping the last of her tears away. Because they believe that there's still one last hope.

Casey.

Another Titan aims its eye at them.

Heidi turns casey to face her and she gives him a hug, pulling away and carressing his cheek with her thumb. Looking at him for one of the last times.

Leonardo puts his metal arm on Caseys shoulder with Heidis on the boys other.

"Casey... when you're done saving the world, do us a favor." Leo says to the confused Casey.

"Grab a slice!" The couple say as they toss Casey into the Time gateway behind the boy. Casey lets out one last cry until he is completely engulfed by the golden portal.

As that happens, time seems to slow.

Leonardo looks at his lovely wife one last time, one hand around her waist and one on her cheek. he presses their heads together.

"Im so sorry my love." He apologizes.

"Don't be, there's no reason to apologize for something that isn't your doing." she confides to him.

He smiles and kisses her. when the pull away the only things he wanted to see when he left was her smiling face looking up at him. He holds her close as they are engulfed By the red light of the titans laser.
