OCTOBER 30, 1984

Scarlette never took notice of guys. She didn't have time for it. After what's happened the past year, with Will and El- just everything, she didn't care about it. She didn't want to be someone's problem. And she had a lot of problems...

As the group- Mike, Will, Scarlette, Lucas and Dustin, gathered to watch Max skate and decide whether Max was really MadMax or not, Scarlette's attention was elsewhere. Her arms were crossed over her body as her eyes drifted from Max to the other side of the courtyard where she noticed Henry Hargrove leaning against the railing on the staircase near Max. She watched him as he watched Max skate around, keeping a close eye on her. He probably noticed the boys staring at her.

He stood alone, his posture stiff and his face unreadable as he watched his sister. Scarlette found herself watching the boy, her curiosity piqued. There was a stormy- electric intensity in his eyes. It made her wonder what could possibly be going on inside his head.

He looked so detached from everything, as if he didn't belong here. For a moment, Henry glanced up and noticed the brunettes gaze on him. Her heart stopped as his blue eyes locked onto hers, her rising to her cheeks as she turned her attention back to the boys conversation.

The quiet tension around Henry stuck with her, lingering in her mind as Max skated around, completely unaware.

"Ah shit we lost the target." Dustin groaned out. Scarlette glared over at him, annoyed as he called Max their target, as if she is a prize waiting to be won. She heard a soft, "Over there." come from Will's mouth.

The party walked up beside Will as they watched the pair of siblings walk up a staircase, Max having her skateboard under her arm as she tossed a piece of paper into the trash bin. The boys all looked at each other before running over to the trash, Scarlette objecting.

Scarlette was embarrassed to say the least when the boys sprinted over to the trash can. "Guys! Are you serious?! This is fucking- Ugh!" She yelled out at them before she chased after them, helping them create a barrier around the trash can as Dustin dug into the trash...

"This is so embarrassing, you better hurry up shithead." Scarlette whispered through her teeth as she smiled and waved at a group of girls passing by. They covered their mouths and whispered about them, causing the girl to roll her eyes and give the group of girls a 'what the fuck do you want' look. That made them speed walk away.

Scarlette was always able to hold her own, never needing the boys to protect her. Honestly, she mostly protected them- especially Will. Behind Lucas, she was probably the toughest in the group.

"Got it! There we go!" The girl finally heard Dustin speak out as he grabbed the piece of paper from the trash can. The group of kids ran over to Dustin to see what it said. "Stop spying on me creeps." The group said in unison before they noticed small writing on the bottom of the paper.
