Meggy and the others were back out into the forest. This time though, they ventured out on the other side. The sun above them casted a warm glow down onto the surface, making the trees above them look golden. For a moment, everybody thought that it was twilight already.
Meggy and the others had recently took SMG4 back to the Showgrounds, so he could get some rest and heal up his sore wounds. They even brought a doctor in to check up on his injuries. Thankfully they weren't serious, and that SMG4's body was just in a state of shock. Everybody was almost convinced that he'd broke a rib or two. But he didn't, so that was the good news.
SMG3 had attacked him when he had tried to talk and make amends with him. The giant showed no interest nor sympathy from the boy's words, so he threw him and got him injured from a painful impact against a tree. Since then, the crew had wrapped him in bandages and left him to get better with the doctor, who didn't stay very long, due to his minor injuries.
SMG4 was very reluctant about the crew going out and finding SMG3 on their own, but Meggy convinced him that things would turn out okay.
She even promised that once they'd defeat him, they would destroy his café.
SMG4 wanted to protest to that idea so badly... but he knew that if he even tried, it would of been like arguing with a brick wall.
And now the gang was inside of the forest, looking for their target. Their big target.
"I know I saw him stomp this way," Meggy explained. "He's probably up to something as we're looking for him."
"Nothing good, that's for sure." Saiko agreed.
"I-If he did that to Four... imagine what he could do to us..." Luigi shivered by the thought and hugged Tari tightly, who also shook in fear by the horrific thought. "It was only luck that he didn't break anything from the impact..."
"Relax guys, we'll be fine," Meggy soothed. "We've defeated him once, we can do it again."
Luigi stammered. "I beg to differ..."
Meggy cocked up an eyebrow.
"Meggy, he's fifty times our size! He's the size of a fricken house!" Tari snapped anxiously, standing up for her friend.
Meggy turned her head. "So? We've defeated Zerø. SMG3 will be no different. I promise."
"The difference being that he actually has a whole body to work with." Saiko argued. "And the power of the crystal."
"And SMG3 knows our weaknesses. He's been sticking with us for a pretty long time, so he's been picking up on that stuff..."
Saiko nodded her agreement. "Exactly."
"Hey come on! Why are you taking their side?"
"Because they have a point, Meggy," Saiko replied blankly. "We really should've thought this through."
"Look, I know we don't have much to work with, but please bare with me here." Her eyes suddenly lit up. "Wait, that's it!"
"What?"
"The crystal! That's what's holding his entire form together! Maybe if we somehow try to take it from him..."
"I don't think it'll be that simple," Saiko chided. "He's much more cautious about it since the first time SMG4 took it from him."
"I believe I even saw him slip it into his pocket at one point..." Melony brought up bashfully.
"Good eye, Melony! Now we know exactly where to strike."
"Okay, so if we do manage to take it from him, how will that stop him in the long run? He'll just go right back for it again." Saiko crossed her arms.
Meggy was a little baffled by the question, but she answered with ease. "We'll make sure it's under max supervision this time."
"Inside of a cave?"
"No, we'll take it back to the Showgrounds again. That way, nobody will risk discovering it accidentally."
Tari stepped forward. "But Meggy... SMG4 said that he wanted to return it to where it belongs... he said that the cavern would rebuild itself. It must of done that by now."
Meggy's expression softened. "But if we do that, Tari, the crystal will be vulnerable to terrible people like Three. And I'm pretty sure he has the entire route memorized. So theirs no point in leaving it there if SMG3 will only take it again."
"What if we just talk to him calmly and ask him to stop?" Boopkins suggested innocently. "Then we wouldn't have to worry about him going after it again."
"You really are gullible, aren't you?" Meggy narrowed her eyes.
"At least he's trying!" Luigi snapped in defense.
"Yeah Meggy, why are you being such a downer?"
"Because I don't appreciate what SMG3 is doing to my friends!" She snapped aggressively.
Everybody leaned away anxiously.
When she realized her outburst, she took a deep breath and exhaled. "Look, I'm just as crushed as the rest of you. I didn't want to resort to this! I'm only doing it because I have to! Otherwise, I risk more of us getting hurt like Four! And that is the last thing we need right now."
"But Meggy... maybe SMG4 was right... maybe SMG3 is just upset, and wants to prove himself to be better..."
Meggy whirled her head around to snap at Tari. "And he chose to do that by attacking SMG4? I don't think so!"
"Well SMG4 did say that SMG3 was jealous..."
"And Saiko also brought up that he'd feel regretful for his actions if he was really a good person. But did he?"
Nobody replied.
"No," Meggy continued. "He walked away like the monster he was. He didn't even bother to lay a finger to help his partner. Literally."
"But maybe that's because—"
"Zip it, Tari!" Meggy snapped.
Tari flinched and shrunk.
"We're going to find him. And we're going to show him that SMG4 and the gang are the last people he should double cross."
Everybody stayed silent. None of them had anymore courage to speak up to her. Some of them even agreed with Meggy's protests.
"Yeah, and he tried to eat my money!" Bob reminded. "That's low of him."
Meggy's eye twitched. "See? So I'm not just delusional."
"Well maybe—"
Meggy whirled another cold glare at her blue, gamer friend.
Tari hung her head. "Never mind."
"Now come on," Meggy ordered. "Lets go find the brute and cut him down to size!"
