Oikawa couldn't help but think about you once he got home.

He kept staring at the dully lit up screen. You had highlights of you with old friends and photos you found aesthetic, posts with you on vacation, everything so genuine.

Of course you hadn't asked for Ushijimas Instagram to be malicious, how were you supposed to know that Oikawa had hated him for years. It wasn't even as if he was a bad person, he just resented his talent and how he always seemed to be just a pinch better than him at his passion.

Was he jealous? No.

He didn't like you.

Honestly.

Of course, one of his first thoughts about you when you met was that you were pretty, and he enjoyed your company the past few days.

A pretty girl with a good personality, sure that described you, but it also described any other girl he got involved with.

Plus he barely knew you, and was told by his best friend nothing could happen between the two of you. Nothing probably would, if you liked Ushijima that is.

So why couldn't he stop thinking about you, turn off his phone and stop looking at your instagram?

Did he want to win over someone who didn't want him? Someone he wasn't allowed to have?

He kept thinking about this, not feeling like either of these explained his feelings towards you.

No. What you were was just another factor in whatever inferiority Oikawa felt towards Ushijima.

He knew whatever attention you gave to Ushijima he wanted for himself.

You were up late staring at your instagram as well. After Ushijima accepted your follow request he sent you a message. You were sure it wasn't anything bad, so why were you scared to open it when you saw the notification? And why have you still not opened it?

Sure, you got attention from guys. Not a ridiculous amount but not too little to feed into any insecurity.

But fuck.

He was gorgeous.

You've never really had the audacity to just go after someone when you felt like they were objectively out of your league. But you did right now.

Fuck it.

It's not like you'd see eachother outside of the occasional volleyball match, rejection wouldn't hurt too bad.
