Queen Poppy entered the pod she now lives in with her husband, Branch, and two children, Rocky and Willow. It was late and all she wanted was to do crawl into bed.

"Branch?" she called as she entered. Branch entered almost immediately, like he always did, and gave her a long happy kiss,

Poppy smiled and sighed through the kiss, wrapping her arms around him. When he pulled apart she asked, "Are the kids in bed?"

"For sure. Sent them to bed a few hours ago. They're probably not asleep, however." Branch used his finger to trace the dark circles under her right eye. "You look exhausted."

"I am," she chuckled, half-heartedly.

Branch removed her crown and cape. "Why don't you say goodnight to the kids and take a quick bath. Then I'll fix you a snack."

"Thanks, but I don't need a snack. Just sleep. " Poppy tried to make it sound like a joke, but Branch knew that she wasn't joking in the least.

"Go on," Branch gestured, pecking her forehead.

Poppy smiled at him and went off. She peeked into her daughter's room, and Willow sat up in bed immediately and smiled.

"Mom! You're home!"

Poppy nodded, smiling. She walked over, leaned over, and gave her a sweet tender kiss on the cheek. "Yep. Now go to sleep, honey."

"Mmm," was all she responded with, not promising she would.

As she left, Willow said, "Rocky's asleep, Mom. You shouldn't wake him."

Poppy nodded at her. "Smart. Thanks, sweetie. Now, goodnight~"

"Night."

Poppy went straight from Willow's room to her bathroom. The bath felt wonderful, and she walked out to ask if Branch was getting in bed with her.

"Poppy! Good, you're out!" Branch looked a bit excited. "How about we go sit outside for a second?"

Poppy flushed. "Branch, honey, I would love to, more than anything, but I'm so tired, I feel like I'm going to fall asleep any moment."

Branch looked pleading. "Just for a second, Poppy. Please?"

"Branch~" Poppy groaned. She really didn't want to.

Branch seemed a bit disappointed. "Oh. Well, if you're that tired, I guess." He shrugged his shoulders and started towards their bedroom. "Come on, let's go to bed."

Poppy sighed, annoyed but feeling bad for him. "Okay, fine. We can go out for a minute."

Branch immediately grinned. "Great! C'mon!" He grabbed her hand and dragged her out into the backyard. Poppy was surprised by his excitement.

"Branch!" Poppy laughed. "What's going on?"

It was totally dark in the backyard that you couldn't see anything. It was almost creepy.

Branch turned to her. "Okay, so, Poppy? Do you remember those colorful Japanese lamps that you wanted for your last birthday?"

Poppy widened her eyes and smiled excited. "Yes??!!"

"Yeah? Well, I didn't get those."

Poppy's face fell. "Oh."

"But I got you what I think was  the next best thing." Branch took out a remote and pressed ON.

Poppy raised an eyebrow, confused until...

Everywhere, through their trees, their trampoline, and bushes, tons of white lamps shine gently throughout every corner of the backyard. It was so bright, calming, and sweet.

It was kind of romantic.

"Oh, Branch, it's so beautiful," Poppy said gratefully. "Where did you find these lights?!!"

Branch shrugged. "Maybe at an antique store. Can't remember. I was going to get you those Japanese ones, but they're so expensive! It was totally insane! Sorry, Poppy."

"No, no, I think...I think I love these even more," Poppy said, wanting to twirl with happiness. She would too if she wasn't so exhausted. "How much were they?"

Branch flushed. "Let's just pretend that it was expensive."

Poppy laughed and leaned against his chest. "It's beautiful, Branch. Thank you. I know you could care less about how we decorate our backyard, but you still did. It means so much."

Branch wrapped his arms around her. "It took about fifty minutes to hang them up, and about ten to figure out the controls, and then an hour and a half, waiting for you. I'm pretty impressed myself."

"You never do stuff like that for anyone," she said into his vest.

"Just for you, dear wife," he teased.

Poppy laughed. They stood there for a bit, Branch's finger tracing the spine of her back gently. Soon, after a bit, he gave her back two pats.

"Okay, are we leaving for bed, now?" Branch asked, wanting to help his wife get her sleep back.

"Wait... How about we not rush to bed. Let's just spend some quality time together. We never get to do that. Sound good?"

Branch grinned. "Just for you. Always."

Poppy leaned closer into him. "You're my one and only, Branch," she said quietly, while drifting away. "I'm so lucky to have you."

Branch just smiled and kissed the now sleeping girl over his chest.

But before he could say anything, she opened her droopy eyelids, looked up at him, and said, "I hate being out in the dark, Branch. You know that. But this is just for you."

Branch laughed, nodded, and they shared one more sleepy kiss before he led his tired wife to bed.
