|Poppy and Branch spend their first morning as a married couple together ❤|

Branch felt his heavy eyelids open, and blinked at the bright sunshine from the sunrise beaming down at him from the window.

Where was he?

He looked down at the ruffled bed covers of the queen-sized bed and gave a smile.

Of course. This was his new home. He had just married Poppy only the night before, and last night was the first time they slept next to each other, actually.

Branch leaned back for a minute and gave a sweet sigh. It was warm in bed and he kinda didn't want to move. The way the covers wrapped around him was comforting and soft.

He wondered if Poppy was awake. Branch glanced at where she had slept last night, on the pillows a few inches away from his. The blanket was covering the same pillows, and he figured she was underneath.

He guessed he might as well get them some coffee. But before getting up, he realized that Poppy may not want coffee. If he made it for her, she might feel as if she needed to drink it when she didn't want to.

Branch decided to ask first. Just to be safe. He didn't want to ruin anything.

"Poppy," he said softly, cringing at how hoarse his voice was from sleep, "are you awake? I'm making coffee, want some?"

He leaned over towards her and took the edge of her side of the blanket, lifting it up.

He expected to see her head lying against the pillows, hair just about as messy as his, eyebags dark, and her to be barely awake, if awake at all.

But this wasn't the case. He lifted the blanket a bit and gasped to find-- nothing.

Poppy wasn't in bed.

Right away, Branch got up, dressed as quickly as he could, and rushed out towards the kitchen. He hoped she wasn't out at work or anything yet. Sounded like something she would do.

"Poppy?! Poppy?!! Where are you?!!" Branch urgently searched around the house, frantic. The coffee was already made.

Okay, so she had obviously in the kitchen. But where was she now?

"Poppy?!!" Branch peeked through the front door, hoping that he would have just caught her if she had left.

"I'm over here, Branch," came a quiet hoarse voice.

Branch knew it well and he gave a sigh and smile of relief. He ran out the door over to the right side of the pod, where he had heard her voice.

"Poppy, what're you--?" Branch stopped when he saw his wife, still in her bathrobe, her eyebags also dark, and her hair in crazy knotted coils.

Against the sunrise, the silhouette of her hair was beautiful.

She looked beautiful any way at any time.

 "Poppy?" he practically whispered.

Poppy turned towards him and smiled. She was sitting on the ground and she patted the ground next to her, gesturing for him to sit beside her.

Branch sat down and smiled at her, a bit confused and surprised. "What're you doing out here? It's early."

Poppy shrugged. "I've always come out early in the morning, ever since I can remember."

Branch lifted his eyebrows. "Even before the morning song?"

"Yup." She gave him a grin, and scooted closer to him. "Kind of my way to fully wake up before I walk into this world of crazy."

Branch stiffened when she placed her head on his shoulder, closed her eyes, and gave a happy sigh, her hand over his. He wondered what position he should stay in, if he was moving too much, and if he should even keep talking. He wasn't sure if she was asleep or not.

Poppy's eyes opened a bit and she squealed, pointing to the sunrise. "Branch! Look, it's so pretty! It's pink!!"

Branch relaxed and smiled gently at her, his hand moving from hers to rub the small of her back.

"You like the sunrise?" he asked.

"Yes!" Poppy answered excitedly. "It's always reminded me of how bright and beautiful this day could be if I really worked hard enough."

Branch frowned slightly, and he stopped caressing her back for a second, thinking. That was actually a pretty good way to think of it. His smile returned, and his hand began to run again.

"That's a smart way of thinking," he told her aloud.

"Thanks." Poppy beamed. "It's easier to be more optimistic about things out here, in the early morning, than in the middle of the day, where everything is happening everywhere at the same time, y'know?"

Branch knew. That was why he always used to hide in his bunker.

"And this is the only place where I could ever get time alone," Poppy continued. "Sometimes I'd sing a song to myself if I was stressed about somthing."

Branch looked alarmed. Here he was, invading her only personal time by herself!

"Errr...so, do you want me to, um, leave? It's no big deal if you do, I just don't want to invade your personal...

"No!" Poppy gripped his arm quickly, and sat up. She giggled. "Sorry, I just-- no. Please don't go."

Branch relaxed again and wrapped an arm around her waist. She leaned into his chest, fiddling with his green leaf vest.

"I don't really want just time alone with me anymore. My life isn't just about me." She looked up at him lovingly. "It's about us."

Branch grinned. Us. That was a word he could get used to Poppy saying to him.

Poppy sat up, wrapped her arms around him, giving him a sweet kiss. Branch tried not to smile into it, pulling her a bit closer in his embrace.

She sighed happily into it while she felt his fingers brush against her bangs, caressing her forehead.

Branch was going to be in her life from now on. Once he officially became king (his coronation was in a few days), they wouldn't be able to see each other as much anymore. They'd both be incredibly busy.

And there was always having kids. She hasn't told Branch about wanting some yet, but it was going to happen.

She giggled into the kiss, and Branch pulled away, now completely smiling as well.

"What?" he asked, laughing .

"Nothing," Poppy sang, deciding not to tell him her decision to have babies yet. "I was just thinking..." Her arms were still wrapped around him and she was still leaning in close.

"Yes?" Branch told her to continue while still caressing her forehead and twirling her hair with his fingers.

"Well, soon we'll both be too busy to really see a lot of each other during the day. And mornings and nights may be all we have together."

Branch frowned to himself. "I guess that's true."

"And, since we will only have a few hours to ourselves...it will make the hours seem more special."

Branch smiled again, nodding. "Hmm. I guess that's also true." He kissed the top of her head. "Smart girl," he teased.

"You know it." She booked his nose, and snuggled up closer into him.

They were married now. Sure, they may not be able to see each other as much between royal duties and jobs and BroZone...but that wasn't the point.

They were together, and always would be. They both had meant their vows the night before. They would never leave each other for anything.

Their times together might be limited, but they'd be wonderfully special. Plus, they loved each other. And that's all that really counted.

|Uhm, the end wasn't as good, but other than that, this was pretty fun to write! Thanks for reading!💕|
