The next day, early in the morning, Sasha and Ava set off into the woods to find some wood. It was peaceful, quiet. Something both girls appreciated. Sasha was mourning her potential future at Woodbury and Ava simply liked the silence.Sasha thought about what to ask Ava to make. She didn't know the extent of the girl's skill, but she was sure Ava would be honest if Sasha suggested something she couldn't do.
"Can you make a little cat? I had a cat, before all of this. It was a tuxedo, his name was Jasper." Sasha smiles fondly at the memory, before her eyes fall sadly.
Ava smiles softly, rubbing Sasha's arms comfortingly as they walk. "Of course. I have some markers, too. I'll color him," she tells the woman, earning a warm, big smile from her.
The two stop smiling when they hear a crunch of a twig to their right. Both girls quickly unsheathed their weapons, Ava holding up her axe and Sasha with a handgun. They aim it defensively towards the noise before the boy, who Ava had learned was Karen's nephew, emerges from the shrubbery.
Both girls sigh in relief and lower their weapons. "Roman, what are you doing out here? Does Karen know?" Sasha crosses her arms, tilting her head.
Roman scoffs and rolls his eyes, "does it matter? Just needed to get away from all of you. Clearly it didn't work." He sighs.
Ava looks at him with furrowed brows, a little offended. She had one interaction with the boy before this, and both times he seemed like sort of a dick, Ava's words, so she wasn't a fan.
"Of course it matters, it matters a lot. Do you know how messed up Karen would be if she lost you, too?" After that, Ava decided to tune out their bickering.
She wanders off, mentally and physically, looking for a decent piece of wood to work on. She thinks about the different things she can make for different people at the prison, deciding it would be a nice gesture to make everyone some gifts after all they've lost.
She finds a few good pieces of wood and tosses them in her bag before walking back to where she left the two, but they weren't there. The girl furrows her brows and looks around, not seeing them anywhere. "Sasha?" She calls out, but receives no answer.
She thinks to herself that Sasha probably hustled back to the prison with Roman, making sure he was safe. So Ava keeps looking for more wood. Because more wood equals more gifts!
Ava finds herself at a river, with a low tide. "Hm." She furrows her brows. "I could..." the girl sits on the ground and takes her boots off before scooting into the water, it barely covering her ankle. She squats a down and feels around the ground, looking for a specific texture.
Ava's face lights up when she finds it. She quickly takes her bag off and sits it on her knees, opening it up and removing a plastic bowl with a lid on it. She starts shoving the contents of what she found into the bowl, deciding that clay would also make something useful.
As she puts the lid back on it, she hears faint yelling. Ava furrows her eyebrows, tucking the bowl into her bag and standing up, getting out of the river and putting her boots back on. She hears the yelling again, but can't quite make out what the persons saying or who it is.
"Ava!" She hears faintly, the voices drawing closer. Is that Maggie?
She starts walking to the yelling, finding Rick, Sasha, Maggie, and Glenn all looking around frantically, their faces showing clear distress. "Guys? What's wrong?" She says as she approaches, looking down at where she's walking before back up at them.
