Ava softly snored while Roman lay awake, running his hands through her hair. He couldn't sleep, not like this, not when his aunt was dying. He lifted Ava's wrist, checking her watch for the time, something he'd been doing periodically. It was nearing six in the morning by now.He felt her shift around and looked down at her, watching her slowly raise up and look around groggily, eyes squinted. "Did you sleep?" She asked him, once realizing he was awake. He shook his head no, earning a grumble from Ava before she shoved her face into the pillow next to him.
"Still tired?" He laughed softly, and she nodded.
She raised up once again, "but we should get going."
Roman sighed but nodded, standing up from the bed and stretching while Ava did the same.

Roman and Ava walked up to the prison, seeing a group on the fence killing walkers. But they noticed that the fence was bending in, about to give.
"Fuck," Ava hissed under her breath before running behind the group of walkers and beginning to scream and clap to draw some attention. Roman picked off the ones that neared her as she backed up to create distance before pulling her axe out and slamming it into several dead heads.
She cursed under her breath again when she realized it wasn't enough and saw the group trying to hold the fence up. She started screaming again, pausing to slam her axe into more walkers in between shouting. Roman followed her lead, screaming to grab their attention and stabbing them in the head with a knife. Ava thought to herself that he needed a better weapon than that pigsticker.
The group backed off the wall, Daryl shouting something they couldn't hear over the snarls of the walkers. Tyrese and Sasha jogged to open the gates for Ava and Roman to run into, quickly shutting it behind them.
"What do we do?" Ava questioned, breathing heavily from the excursion.
Rick looked to the pig pen and then down at the ground in front of him. He told the group to continue picking them off while he and Daryl took the piglets out to the field to draw them out, seeing as they were sick anyways.
Tyrese tossed Ava a pole, and she swiftly caught it, shoving it through the skull of a walker and tugging it back out before slamming it into another. She repeated this process, watching as the pile of walkers against the fence dwindled down.
Once everyone deemed it safe to leave alone, the group retreated back to the prison. Ava ruffled Carl's hair as she passed the boy, on his way to the farm in the courtyard where his dad was.
"I was thinkin' about going to bring Karen some flowers. You wanna come with?" Ava heard Tyrese talking to Roman beside her. Roman agreed and set off with the man, flowers in hand, leaving Ava to be by herself.
She wondered what she could do to stay away from the unexposed people but also keep herself busy. She couldn't go to her cell to grab any of her things because Judith was in there, and she couldn't risk infecting the baby.
So Ava sat on a bench at the base of the prison yard, watching as her people dug graves for those who had passed in the courtyard. She shook her head and looked to the ground, her eyes becoming glossy. Ava had become emotionally stunted from the apocalypse, but being around these people gave her something to feel.
Her head whipped around as the door to the tombs slammed open, Roman and Tyrese bursting out. She furrowed her brows and blinked the tears away, standing up to see what was wrong.
Roman was crying quietly, and Tyrese looked beyond pissed. "You seen Rick anywhere?" Tyrese seethed.
"Yeah.. he's by the farm, why?" She looked between the two, but she could guess what the matter was.
