Avi stepped into the crowded room, his eyes scanning the sea of unfamiliar faces. The music was loud, and the air was thick with the smell of beer and sweat. Avi had never been one for parties, but Ikshit had convinced him to come out and have some fun.
As Avi made his way through the throng of people, he spotted Ikshit across the room, laughing and chatting with a group of friends. Avi made his way over to him, feeling a sense of relief wash over him as he reached his side.
"Hey, man, thanks for dragging me out here," Avi said, clapping Ikshit on the back.
Ikshit grinned. "You're welcome, Avi. I knew you needed a break from studying."
Avi nodded, taking a sip of his beer. "Yeah, I guess you're right."
Just then, a girl with piercing green eyes and raven-black hair caught Avi's attention. She was laughing and chatting with a group of friends, her smile radiant in the dim light of the room. Avi felt a sudden jolt of curiosity, and his eyes lingered on her for a moment before he turned back to Ikshit.
"Who's that?" Avi asked, nodding towards the girl.
Ikshit followed Avi's gaze. "That's Ira, my cousin sister. She's a great person, Avi. You should go talk to her."
Avi raised an eyebrow. "You think so, huh?"
Ikshit nodded. "Yeah, I do. She's smart, funny, and beautiful. What more could you ask for?"
Avi chuckled, feeling a sense of amusement wash over him. "You're a real salesman, Ikshit."
Ikshit grinned. "Hey, someone has to keep you out of trouble, Avi."
As they continued to chat, Avi couldn't help but sneak glances at Ira. There was something about her that drew him in, something that made him want to know her better. Avi knew that he had to be careful, though. He didn't want to get too close, not yet.
But as the night wore on, Avi found himself feeling more and more drawn to her. He knew that he had to be careful, but he couldn't help himself. He was starting to feel a connection with Ira that he couldn't explain.
Just then, a boy with a smug smile and a designer watch caught Avi's eye. He was standing next to Ira, his arm around her shoulders. Avi felt a pang of jealousy as he realized that he was richer than him.
"Who's that?" Avi asked, nodding towards the boy.
Ikshit followed Avi's gaze. "That's Sid, Ira's childhood best friend. He's a bit of a snob, but he's a good guy once you get to know him."
Avi raised an eyebrow. "A snob?"
Ikshit nodded. "Yeah, he can be a bit full of himself sometimes. But he's got a good heart."
Avi watched as Sid and Ira laughed and chatted together, feeling a growing sense of unease. He knew that he had to be careful, but he couldn't help himself. He was starting to feel a connection with Ira that he couldn't explain.
