4. The Romance

This chapter introduces the romance between Sid and Ira, which is a turning point in the story.

Sid's eyes never left Ira's face as he approached her. He could see the concern etched on her features, and he knew that she was worried about him.

"Ira, I'm sorry," he said, his voice low and husky. "I know I overreacted. But I just can't help the way I feel."

Ira's eyes softened, and she reached out to touch his arm. "Sid, you don't have to apologize. I know you're just trying to protect me."

Sid's heart skipped a beat as he felt her touch. He knew that he was falling for her, and he couldn't help but wonder if she felt the same way.

As they stood there, the tension between them was palpable. Avi was nowhere to be seen, and Sid knew that he had to make his move.

"Ira, can I ask you something?" he said, his voice trembling with emotion.

Ira nodded, her eyes locked onto his. "What is it?"

Sid took a deep breath. "Do you feel the same way about me? Do you feel the same spark that I do?"

Ira's eyes never left his, and for a moment, Sid thought he saw a glimmer of hope. But then, her expression changed, and she looked away.

"I don't know, Sid," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I care about you, but I don't know if it's the same way."

Sid's heart sank, and he felt a pang of disappointment. He knew that he had to respect her decision, but he couldn't help but feel a sense of loss.

As they stood there, the silence between them was oppressive. Sid knew that he had to leave, but he couldn't bring himself to move.

Finally, he turned and walked away, leaving Ira behind.
