Felicity felt like a ghost as they followed Juno down the dimly lit hallway, their heart still aching from the breakdown they had just experienced. The rawness of their emotions felt like an open wound, and the thought of facing Alex now was almost too much to bear. But Juno's resolve was like steel, her determination carrying them both forward.
They entered the room where Bree's lifeless body still lay, Nathan and Callum sitting beside her, their faces etched with grief. The air was thick with tension, and the weight of their collective sorrow was palpable. Alex stood on the opposite side of the room, his expression a mix of defiance and fear.
Felicity felt a flicker of anger ignite within them, a simmering resentment that threatened to boil over at the mere sight of the one who had caused so much pain and suffering.
"You fucking coward."
Juno spat, her eyes blazing with fury. "How dare you try to justify what you've done?"
Alex squared his shoulders, trying to look unfazed. "I did what I had to do. She was in the way, and I—"
"In the way?" Juno's voice rose to a shout, her fists clenched at her sides.
Alex raised his head, his eyes haunted and hollow. "I...I didn't mean for this to happen," he stammered, his words feeble and unconvincing.
Felicity felt their nails digging into their palms, the anger within them building like a pressure cooker ready to burst. They opened their mouth to speak, but Juno beat them to it, her fury erupting in a torrent of fury.
"You didn't mean for this to happen?" Juno snarled, her body trembling with barely contained rage. "You pushed Poppy to her death! You sacrificed her like she was nothing, all to save your own worthless hide!"
Alex flinched as if struck, his gaze falling to the floor. "I was scared," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "I panicked, and I made a mistake."
"A mistake?" Juno's laughter was bitter and harsh.
"You call pushing someone to her death, brutally stabbing someone, killing your own girlfriend, driving someone to the brink of suicide and getting them barred from their first-choice university due to false allegations a FUCKING mistake?!"
Alex froze in shock, his defiant facade crumbling as Juno's words pierced through him, the weight of his monstrous actions hanging heavy in the air, leaving him exposed and utterly at a loss in front of everyone.
"You think you're some kind of victim here?" Juno continued, her voice trembling with rage. "You're pathetic. You're a monster."
Nathan and Callum exchanged uneasy glances, but neither dared to intervene, the weight of Juno's anger like a tangible force in the room.
"Do you have any idea what you've done?" Juno continued, her words lashing out like whips. "Do you know the pain you've caused, the scars you've left on all of us?"
"You made Felicity feel like they were worthless," Juno seethed, her eyes blazing with fury. "Your constant belittling and mockery nearly broke them. Do you even care about the damage you've caused?"
Alex opened his mouth, but no words came out, his eyes flickering nervously between Juno's enraged form and the cold, impassive stares of Nathan and Callum.
Juno took a step forward, her fists clenched at her sides. "I should have done this a long time ago," she growled, her voice low and dangerous. "When you took Poppy's life, I wanted nothing more than to end you right then and there. And if Nathan and Callum hadn't held me back, I swear to God, I would have taken the deepest pleasure in seeing your throat slit, courtesy of myself."
A collective gasp rippled through the room, and Felicity felt their heart hammering in their chest. They had never seen Juno like this, her anger burning with the intensity of a supernova.
"Juno..." Nathan began, his tone cautious, but Juno silenced him with a withering glare.
"Don't you dare try to defend him Nate," she spat, her words laced with venom. "Not after everything he's done, not after the way he's made Felicity feel, the way he's torn this group apart from the inside."
Felicity watched in stunned silence as Juno advanced on Alex, her body coiled like a snake ready to strike. "If you ever come near me, Felicity, Nathan, or Callum again, I swear on my life, I will take the deepest pleasure in seeing your throat be slit, courtesy of myself."
The threat hung in the air, heavy and palpable, and for a moment, Felicity could have sworn they saw genuine fear flicker across Alex's face.
As Juno turned away, her chest heaving with the force of her outburst, Felicity felt a strange sense of awe and admiration wash over them. In that moment, they had witnessed the depths of Juno's fiercely protective nature, her unwavering loyalty, and her willingness to do whatever it took to defend those she loved.
Nathan and Callum exchanged a glance, then stepped forward, flanking Felicity and Juno. "You need to leave, Alex," Nathan said quietly, his voice firm. "Now."
Alex hesitated, then turned and left the room without another word. The door closed behind him with a finality that felt like the end of a nightmare.
Juno turned to Felicity, her eyes softening as she reached out and took their hand. "Are you okay?" she asked, her voice trembling with the remnants of her fury.
Felicity nodded, feeling a sense of calm wash over them. "I think so," they whispered, squeezing her hand. "Thank you."
Juno pulled them into a tight hug, and Felicity felt the weight of their grief and anger begin to lift, replaced by the comforting warmth of their friends. They knew the road ahead would be difficult, but for the first time in a long while, they felt a glimmer of hope.
They would face it together.
