Yayyyy!!! Chapter 5!! Ok, byeeee!!
"Imperfection is beauty"
-Marilyn MonroeAfter a long day of not getting into Halston's pretty little head I was ready to just lay down and sleep. No such luck. My parents are home.
I do love them ,but seriously,
they bother me. My dad is constantly tapping away at his phone and my mom finds every little flaw I have and makes it painfully obvious.Example A as soon as I walked through the door.
"You're face looks puffy Alison!" She took my chin in her hands. "Have you been eating carbs?"
"Hello mother." I braced myself.
See, if my mother was normal maybe it wouldn't hurt so bad when she insulted me.
But no, my mother is Heather Brooke, reporter for ABC news. She shows up on TV every weekday with shiny bleached hair and a dazzling smile.
Reviews say she looks young and refreshing (only I know that's because of yoga class and Botox).
But she's so impossibly perfect that when she points out imperfections my eyes start to tear up.She notices.
"Oh don't be a baby!" She snips. Maybe she's not as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.
"I'm just stating the fact that you look chubbier!, am I right Alan?" She turns toward my dad, who surprise surprise is on his phone. He nods in agreement, too mesmerized to even hear what's going on.
"Gee thanks mom."
"Don't get fresh young lady!"
"I hate you!!"I storm out of the house not even waiting for a reply. I sit down on my porch and start to bawl like a baby. After a few moments I look up and almost scream. Right there, standing with her mouth wide open and a plate in her hands was none other than Halston Blight.
"Ummmm." She stuttered.
I gave up trying to put her down. My voice soft I asked her. "Did you hear all that?"
She nodded. "I'm so sorry." She held out the plate. "I was bringing over cookies."
"It's okay." I sighed. "I wouldn't bring those to my mom though."
"Yeah, ummm, okay."her eyes were still as big a saucers.
I sniffled.
"Do you wanna eat dinner at my house?" she offered.
"Really?" I asked, "but I'm so rude to you."
"Oh well," she pointed to my house, "I understand."
I got up and followed her to her house. I didn't care wether my parents knew where I was. They obviously didn't care.
As soon as I walked into Halston's house my jaw dropped. Saying it was cool was an understatement. It wasn't super big like mine but it wasn't small either.
Inside the floor was dark wood. The walls were stormy blue color. The ceilings were tall and a big crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling. That was just the start. She took me to her room.
"My parents will be home in a little, they'll love you being here. "
I stopped at her doorway. Her room was amazing.
Cream colored drape things hung like a canopy from her gold beaded bed. Her walls were berry colored and photos from all around the world hung big and small on her wall. Right above her bed hung a big wooden cross.
"Woah." I said
"Do you like it?" She plopped down on her bed. "I've never lived somewhere long enough to decorate my room."
I quickly regained my dignity. "Yeah, it's pretty cool."
We had only been in her magnificent room for a few moments when I heard her parents come in.
"Halston!!" Her mom called. Her voice was warm and kind.
Halston got up and motioned for me to come with her. I quickly fixed my hair I'd been laying on and wiped the mascara that smudged my cheeks from crying.
I followed Halston out into the entryway. Her parents stood in the entryway with a little girl.
"Hi!" Said Halston pointing to me. "This is Alison."
