As you were bombarded with questions and served several plates of different delicacies, you remained perplexed about your current situation.

For a while, it appeared as if Seiji would never lift his hand from your own, and when he did, he only rested it on the arm of your chair-still unseen to the others.

You tried your best to convince yourself that he was only doing that to help you adjust to being surrounded by strangers. It was the only way you were able to ease your mind.

"Yes, yes, she is a sight for sore eyes, but we need more than a pretty face. Is that all she has to offer?" A woman with long pale blonde hair and even paler blue eyes remarked, giving you a once over. "Can you cook?" She asks.

"I can, I've been thoroughly taught and cooking since I was ten years old."

"Are you capable of doing laundry?" The same woman pressed on.

"Of course-"

"Let's say the maids are out. Are you capable of thoroughly washing your husband's clothes with your bare hands?"

"Now what kind of a ridiculous question is that, Sachiro? We have servants for that very reason. Must you really antagonise the girl this much." Seiji spoke up as he dropped his fork and glared daggers at the woman sitting across from him.

"I'm only asking. It is my duty, after all, to make sure that my son's wife is a capable woman. We are a family of extravagance. Therefore, we can't afford to lose respect on her account." Sachiro chimes out, running a hand through her long hair.

"And what makes you think you are in a viable position to pass judgment? Can you do those things?" Seiji continues, his growing anger very evident by the way his grip on your chair tightened.

"Why are you-"

"Seiji, Sachiro, please. This is really no way to conduct yourselves in front of our soon to be family addition." The eldest Gojo crooked out, smoothing over his unusually long beard with his gnarled fingers.

"Why do you gotta go ruining the fun all the time, elder." Satoru snickered, looking between his glaring father and upset mother.

"Don't start, Satoru." The eldest man warns, Satoru, in return, holding up his hands in surrender. "Do excuse them, young maiden. Uh, Y/n, was it?"

"Yes, that is correct."

He then slightly bows at you. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am Gousuke Gojo, Seiji's father and Satoru's grandfather." At his introduction, you bowed just as he did. He was no doubt the eldest of the family. Therefore, his word was law.

The horribly awkward dinner had finally ended. You've never felt such relief in all your life.

The feeling was clearly mutual for Satoru, seeing as he was one of the first ones to leave the room.

As you stood up to leave, Gousuke approached you. "I'd like to formally apologize for their behavior, especially Satoru. He'll warm up to the idea eventually." From the warmth in his blue eyes, you could feel the sincerity in his words.

Feeling much better about the who ordeal, you smiled. "Thank you, Mr. Gousuke. You really didn't have to."

"Of course I did. I'm aware this arrangement wasn't something you desired, but I hope you come to find peace with it. You are a very brave girl, Y/n."

"I wouldn't say that."

"I would." With a gentle tap on your shoulder, the elder left the room, and soon you attempted to do so as well. You knew that wouldn't happen, though, when a tall, muscular man turned the corner.

Gojo's father, Seiji, entered the now empty dining hall with the exception of your presence, of course.

His blue eyes lidded, and his usually stern expression had gone soft as he looked at you. He was just as pretty as his son.

"I sincerely hope dinner wasn't too awful for you. Sachi, my... spouse, can be very malicious towards young and charming women. She's a bit jealous of them, I suppose. " He began, taking slow steps toward you.

"I see. Well, she has nothing to worry about." You hum out, and the man's eyes crinkled as he smiled.

"I undisputedly disagree." His smooth voice rang out as he finally came to a halt in front of you. "She has every right to feel inferior in the presence of such a woman."

Taken aback, you could do nothing but look down at your feet as the man spoke.

"I believe I saw my father exchange a few words with you."

"Ah, yes. He was only apologizing for the dinner and Satoru's behavior-though he didn't have to-that's all." You explained.

"I see. Well, I am Satoru's father, so I believe I, too, owe you an apology."

Dismissively waving your hands, you shook your head. "That's unnecessary. Like I said to Mr. Gousuke, there isn't anything to apologize for. Your son's behavior towards me is understandable. He doesn't know me after all, and as for Miss Sachi... well, she was only looking out for her son."

"Sachiro is just God awful, and Satoru needs a good talking to. I'll see to it that he shows some effort, I won't allow him to tarnish the Gojo name." Seiji spat sternly. However, when seeing how frightened you had gotten from his tone, his gaze softened. "Being here was not of your own request. It was your father's. Therefore, I expect you to be treated well."

"... thank you, Mr. Seiji. You're too kind."

"Please, when we are not in the presence of others, you may call me Seiji."

"I couldn't-"

"It isn't a request." Daring to take a step further, Seiji's larger frame now towered over you even more. "And you needn't worry-" He starts once again, gently brushing a large hand against the side of your face. His blue eyes returned to their half lidded state as he gazed down at you.

"Anything Satoru doesn't do for you, I will."
