The prize

The song was at its end, and this was the part where we just COULD NOT afford to mess up! This part of the song was the most iconic and the dance was just as important. We HAD to get it right. And I am glad to say that me and Jax didn't miss a single beat. After that Caine gathered us all onstage. He was a judge along with the Pac-Man -whose name was bubble- and a wooden mannequin. They were talking in low voices,so I couldn't pick up on their conversation. After a while,caine walked on stage and silenced the crowd. "Alright everyone! These were all AMAZING talents!" Caine said to cheers and applause. "Now it is time for the awards! In 3rd place we got...gangles ballet routine!" There was clapping and cheering as gangle received her bronze trophy,bowing before heading offstage.
"In second place we got...Pomni and Ragatha's magic show!" Caine announced as the girls came and got their silver trophy.
"Now, we had a VERY hard pick between the last two pairs." Caine said after Pomni and ragatha walked offstage. Kingers performance was great! But...did we do enough? The crowd murmured,anxious about the winner. "But, after very,very hard consideration, we had to file it down to the finest details in each performance. And I am Proud to say that the winner is..." Caine trailed off to keep the suspense. I was shaking with fear, did we do enough? They said they filed it down to the FINEST detail. And Jax had some minor stumbles in our dance,but he hid them well. Kingers was very memorable though. The audience was silent,the room seemed to be anxious itself. Caine opened the envelope that contained the winning pair,glanced at me and Jax,then at Kinger and Zooble, then read the card.
" JAX AND COMET IN 'LOSER BABY!'" Caine announced at last.
The crowd cheered so loud it made my ears hurt, but I was proud for Ki- WAIT..DID HE SAY OUR NAMES?!? I couldn't believe it but my tail could though,as it was wagging so hard it hit my legs,and I was just....shocked. Jax looked just as shocked as me, but not at the fact that we won. But that the ENTIRE crowd,even the others who won bronze and silver were clapping and cheering...for him. I padded up to Caine and was about to take our prize, when I turned to Jax and said "you wanna do the honors?" Jax nodded, walked up and as he took the trophy,everyone started standing up. Not just the crowd and the judges,but the other circus members too.
It was a standing ovation.
For us.
And I'm being honest, that was the only other time I saw Jax cry. Not like the day he told me why he was scared of corn. No, these were tears of joy. He picked me up and hugged me,and I covered his face with sloppy kisses from my tongue, and he didn't complain.
