"Well, that was bad. If he continues to recite the book like that... then it's seriously bad, Numi. Tell me how in the earth it was possible for you to be awake during the whole time?!"

Well, candy? I reach out to my candies stacked in my bag. Giving her a mango flavored candy, we sit in the cafeteria, dropping our bags on the table. "Candy? Explain." She grumbles with a blank face.

"I used to sleep during classes from primary grades. My teachers were always complaining about that to my parents, I tried to stop, but it wouldn't. At grade of 4 my friend and seatmate Laksh gave me a candy and asked me to concentrate on it and find what flavor it was. I didn't sleep the whole class. I found a solution to my problem, but my teachers were still not happy.

And I found a way to eat candies without their knowledge. It felt like a challenge that kept me awake for the whole class. Slowly, it turned to a habit. Now, it's not easy to stop. So I have a few candies as stock!"

"Would you let me see it?" I smile and said," Yes, sure.",and I show her my little pouch of candies and chocolates. "What! Are you about to start a store or something? That's like 50 candies and a lot of chocolate! And also a lot of lollipops? Girl, what is this?!"

I mean, she is genuinely shocked. Why, though... "That's 45 candies, 12 chocolate bars, and 20 lollipops." I say with a nervous smile. She finds me weird, I guess. "Hey, we all are obsessed with something. Don't look at me like that! I'd be offended and won't ever give them to you. Ever!"

She laughs, falling back on her chair, "Ok, I'm sorry, but it's different to see people carrying a white candy store in their bags. But I love vada paav a lot too, so whenever you find me near that shop, you'll see an animal gulping down the whole stock. No regrets at all." She stretches the last words with a serious tone and expression, but the smile is trying to break out of her face.

We walk to the counter to order some food, it's loud here. Hmm, I miss my school friends as I see girls chatting in groups. Reminding myself to call them when I reach home, I sigh wistfully. We got our food and moved to the table we dropped our bags.

"So, where are you from? I started the conversation, muching on my French fries, she replied after sipping into her water water, "Visakhapatnam, after a lot of convincing. I wasn't sure because dad was so stubborn, but guess what, whose daughter am I?" She wiggles her eyebrows and asks with a smug smile.

"Where are you from? "  I said, "Native Tamil Nadu, but settled here before 16 years. Dad has a small traveling agency and 3 siblings Numaidh - medical student, Inaraa- 11th grade , Hasadh 9th grade, Mom- the Queen of our Humble Home."

"My mom passed away when I was three, two siblings, Riyaas, Riyaa. Twins. They are 15. Mr. Rahim Aftab, an accountant in an auditing firm, would never remarry, so a single dad." She said with a melancholic smile. I think, no sratch that she misses them.
