"Do you always have nightmares like that?" Jason caressed his girlfriend's arm as the two lay wrapped in each other.

He'd meant to sneak in, an on-going pattern the two had crafted to spend time together, lying in each other's arms until the sun came up. He never expected to find Sienna crying out in her sleep from nightmares that were far too real.

"Sometimes," Sienna whispered. Her voice was shallow and gravely, vulnerability laced like leaves of a vine. "They went away for a while. Now, they're back. Usually when I feel a surge of memories. Sometimes, on the anniversary."

Sienna had confessed to her boyfriend about the secrets of her childhood. She shared with him the truth about her hidden sister, the loss of her father, and the abandonment of her mother.

Jason had a demeanor that invited trust. She'd never felt as safe with anyone as she did with him. He had taken one look at her vulnerable frame and immediately found a way to make her feel safe.

Jason turned towards his girlfriend, propping the weight of his body up on one arm. "You're not alone. You know that, right?" Determination and love seeped through his voice. He was heartbroken and enamored all in one. The girl he had come to love was so much stronger and braver than anyone had ever given her credit for.

She was a force to be reckoned with.

Love filled the girl's eyes, her hand coming up to rest upon his cheek, Jason leaned slightly and pressed a kiss into her palm. "I know." She smiled.

Love shined through the couples eyes as they stared deeply into the others, taking the moment in. The love that was growing had been strengthened by something far deeper than they could have ever imagined.

Neither knew who moved first, but suddenly their lips were pressed together in something gentle and passionate. Her hips found their way on top of his and they lost themselves in a love that was heaven sent.

It's an odd thing how memories have a way of resurfacing. Sometimes a scent or a date can trigger an emotional response. Other times it seems like fate that brings the moment in when you need them most, like an invisible string tied towards happiness.

Sienna and Jason were two souls who were buried in pain and isolation. Like an old tale of Orpheus and Eurydice, they were lost to the tragedy of life, doomed to repeat love and loss. In both tales, it was the love they had for each other than sent them to their doom.

Orpheus only turned to Eurydice after a week of traveling because he thought she had gotten hurt. Sienna only left Jason after a night of terror because she wanted to protect him. In the end, all Eurydice and Jason wanted was to be with their loves.

Both of the modern pair referred to the myth. Either imagining themselves as the opposite counterparts. Both placed the blame on themselves. Only, the tragedy had nothing to do with them, and everything to do with a perpetrator who wanted to bring pain.

Unlike Hadestown, their tragedy wasn't doomed to end. They would pick up, and start all over again.

Even now, as they were worlds apart, the memory that sparked a new age of their love penetrated their minds and warmed their soul, guiding them closer and closer, even in woe.

Sienna was allowed the company of nightmares in both wake and sleep. Every so often, she would find herself with the company of a memory of something sweet. Each time she would beg for it to repeat.

The days began to grow longer and she was finding it harder and harder to find peace. A had turned her into April. They were erasing Sienna by overriding her person with her greatest pain.
