Sleep never came for Sienna. She spent half of the night watching the rising and falling of Jason and Jenna's chests while they slept, comforting herself with the knowledge that they were alive and safe. She spent the other half of the night watching the police stationed outside the door while trying to fight the haunting thoughts that plagued her brain.
Even after Jenna woke and left for work, Sienna continued to watch Jason sleep. She knew that he needed it—probably as much as she did.
She also knew that the only reason he allowed himself to fall asleep was because he thought that she was.
Jason's hand hadn't left Sienna's the entire night, like if he let go of her she would disappear. Sienna didn't mind though, she loved the feeling of Jason holding her and his presence was a comfort to the nightmares that threatened to swallow her.
When he started to stir early in the morning, Sienna quickly feigned sleep—hoping that he wouldn't notice.
Of course, he did.
"I know you're awake. I could feel you watching me." Jason laughs, smirking as he laid sleepy eyes on his girlfriend.
"Hi." Sienna smiles, looking at her boyfriend with the playful innocence of a child who had gotten caught.
"Hi." Jason muses, taking in the moment that he was able to wake up next to Sienna for the first time in years—a comfort he'd only had in his dreams.
"I didn't want to wake you. I could tell you needed the sleep." Sienna admits, raking her eyes over Jason's face to see the lessened bags under his eyes.
"I need you more." Jason surmises, taking in every crevice of Sienna's face like she was his favorite painting, etched into something beautiful.
"I'm really glad you're here. I know that I've already said that— but I mean it." Sienna admits, repeating the words that echoed in her mind constantly.
Once, Sienna had promised that if she ever found Jason again, she would be worthy of him. She would work to make up for her mistakes and be better. That was before the horrible events of the dollhouse, but the sentiment was still true.
"I'm really glad that you're here too." Jason inflates, his chest filling with warmth as the love heats his body.
It was still surreal to be in Sienna's presence. For years, Jason had compared their love to Orpheus and Eurydice, close to forever but always doomed to fall apart. Yet, they seemed to have escaped the tragedy.
Sienna's soul ached for her other half, the only person who was as devoted as she was. "I really want to kiss you right now."
The smirks etched both of their faces, the action meaning more than ever before. There was a tenderness, a yearning, that only two souls destined to be together could comprehend.
"That's great because I have been dying to kiss you." Jason blushed, the smile lighting his face like a boy with a school crush. It was a simple response but it meant the world.
"We should really do something about that, then." Sienna chuckles, her hand reaching forward to Jason's cheek, her thumb caressing it in adoration.
"Absolutely, I don't think there's any other option." Jason muses, mirroring Sienna's actions, his own hand reaching forward to brush a hair from Sienna's face and cup her cheek, echoing the motion she placed on his own.
