The first time Kishibe summoned the Bone Devil was during a mission in Hokkaido. He and his partner, Quanxi, were tasked with dealing with the Hyena Devil. At first, Kishibe was hesitant to have a devil by his side, but he despised the idea of leaving one alone in his apartment even more. And so, the Bone Devil accompanied them on their mission.

As they approached the scene of the fight, Kishibe noticed the Bone Devil observing from a distance on the floor, absentmindedly squishing passing ants with her finger. As people around them fled in fear, she found amusement in their selfish actions.

Suddenly, her attention was drawn to Kishibe performing the ritual that would summon her powers. She remembered teaching him the words and hand movements and wondered why he was doing it until she saw the Hyena Devil charging towards a woman and her child with its mouth wide open, displaying its sharp teeth.

The Bone Devil directed her gaze towards the hyena and watched as its rib cage burst through its skin, killing it instantly. The gruesome sight caused many bystanders to stop and stare in horror at the bone fragments piercing through the devil's skin and spraying blood onto those nearby.

But for the Bone Devil, this was just another source of fear to feed off of, granting her strength. Rising from the floor, she ran past Quanxi and Kishibe who were wiping blood off their faces. She crouched down next to the dead body of the Hyena Devil, scanning for a small piece of bone to take home as a souvenir.

"Here," she heard the familiar voice of Kishibe.

She looked up at him to see a small piece of the shattered rib cage of the hyena resting on his palm. She stood up before snatching it off his hand, mumbling a 'thank you' before making her way over to Quanxi.

Kishibe had never intended to give her anything when their contract was formed. After all, the agreement was based purely on strength, and he was not obligated to offer her anything in return. But for some reason, a sense of guilt nagged at him and compelled him to give her something.

Perhaps it was because she had traded her powers for her life that day, they made the contract. This was a common exchange in the Devil Hunting world, but Kishibe had twisted the process in his favor, causing her to despise him even more. Despite this, she had ended up under his wing and though he would never admit it, he hated having her around. As a Devil Hunter, he despised devils and at first he did everything he could to get rid of her. But nothing worked.

But as a gentleman, he would tolerate her presence for at least a year to have her transfer into another division. After all, the devil one makes a contract with is not required to stay by their side. However, he couldn't help but find it strange how much she followed him around. He traced it back  to when he almost killed her during their first encounter.
