Not Like Others

Scared of Growing

You rush to the hotel. You had to go somewhere. You had to tell someone.

It was late. Near dawn. You couldn't go back to the hotel where Angel was! Not yet! You scared the heck out of him yesterday.

It didn't help that the news broadcasted it all. The other actors gave a description of you, so now everyone knows who did it!

Who could you tell?
Husk. He knows about you. Your powers. Tell him!

You quietly open the door, hoping only Husk was there. You saw Charlie and Vaggie sitting inside you. You bit down one of your replaced curse words.

Just then, a hand grabbed you! You jumped and almost got into a fight stance, but noticed it was Husk!
"Husk! Don't do that!" You whisper yelled.

"Kid, what the h*ll were you thinking?!" He whispered," Evryone knows about the Vees Tower and knows who did it! Why did you do it?! How did you do it?! I've never seen you fight!"

"Husk, I have to tell you something.." You say, leading him away from the hotel.

"You're a what!" He exclaimed.

"A high-ranking winner trapped in a sinner body." You shushed him.
"I have these powers, and because of what the soothsayer said, I won't be able to control them unless I do one of those two options."

He held his head. This was a lot of information. How does a winner get a sinner body? Did you fall?

"Husk.." You trail off.

He looks at you.

"I'm scared. I'm scared about my powers, I'm scared about everyone finding out. I'm scared..of myself."

You began to panic. Your breath became short.

He placed a hand on one of your shoulders." Hey, don't go freaking out on me." He ordered.

"I don't know what I'm gonna do. I.. I have to leave the hotel." You say.

"Don't be rash, kid." He replied." You may have done this.. big thing. But given how upset Charlie was about Angel and about the f**k who did it, i don't think she'll mind that much."

"But what about Angel?" You ask.
"I'll.. speak with him."
You look at him." Really?" You ask.
He nods.
You sigh, relieved a bit. But then huffed.
"How am I gonna face Charlie?" I ask.
"Her whole point of this place is to forgive. Give her a chance, kid." He replied.

You stare at the ground.
Should.. I continue down this path? This was getting really dangerous.

"You do want to remain normal, don't you?"
Your eyes widen a bit.

Your previous memory with the soothsayer just before you left.

"I do. I don't wanna become a full sinner." You reply.
"Then continue. People may get a little hurt, but hey, you're not killing them, are you? So does it really matter as long as you get what you want?"

Husk gives you a pat on the shoulder before walking inside.

"Oh, Husk, I forgot to mention.." You thought to yourself." I made a deal with the soothsayer. Not for my soul, though."
Those words begged to get out of your mouth.

It's true. You did make a deal. A deal that  she could help me with my power, including using a bit of it. But I couldn't use my powers to hurt the people I cared about. I would be bound up in chains, holding me back if I did.

You step into the hotel, and Charlie looks at you.
You look at her, waiting for her to yell or say anything pertaining to the incident.
You look away, feeling tears of guilt sting your eye.

She knew then and there not to speak. She stood, ran over, and enveloped you in a hug.

You grab her back." I didn't mean to. I was angry and I couldn't.." You trailed off.

She shushed you, knowing that you meant your apology. She has known you for a while. She knows when you intentionally want something.

As you hug her, you wonder.

Am I really going to give myself over that far, able to hurt people that easy, for myself?

Was that... selfish?
