Love or Lie?

The Show must go on

-Pacifica's Pov-

I wasn't sure what was going on with Mabel. She told me she was fine but I wasn't convinced. Perhaps it had to do with the amulet, her eyes were gloing a bit like her brother's. Before I could ask any questions she asked:"So how is Gideon? What is he doing?","Oh Gideon found this strange book in the woods and is convinced he found a proof of paranormal phenomena or something like that I answered." I answered and Mabel then said:"Interesting, tell me more about the book.","Well the book contains information about creatures and magic items. The cover has hand with six fingers on it." I said. Mabel looked very interested at me and asked:"You know, my brother is also interested in these kinda things. You think Gideon might lend the book to him?","I highly doubt that. Gideon is a bit paranoid and I'm not sure about this. I never believed in these things but since I met your brother at the mall and I...well I don't want to toy with things I don't understand." I answered and looked down. Mabel said:"Hm, I see.", she then put her hand on my chin and directed my face to hers. I started blushing and she asked:"But don't you trust me?", her eyes gloing again. I answered:"I...I do but...","Okay you know what? Forget about the book. You're unsure and I should respect that." Mabel said and let go of my chin. Now she looked down with a sad expression.

I put my hand on her chin and directed now her face towards mine. Mabel looked surprised and blushed. "It's okay, you wanted to your brother a favor. You just wanna help people." I said. Mabel smiled and kissed me. It lasted for a couple of seconds before I pulled away. Mabel asked:"Is everything okay?","It's just...I have trouble with letting people this close to me. I just don't want to get hurt again." I explained, my eyes becoming teary. Mabel pulled in another hug and said:"I'm sorry...I was going to fast at it. I know what it's like, but I would never hurt you.","It's okay, no need for an apology. I kinda liked it but it I think it would be more appropriate if we dated first." I said and chuckled. Mabel let go of me and looked at me surprised. She asked:"Are you interested in dating me?","Well I'm not sure. If I should be honest I feel kind of drawn to you and I don't know why." I answered. "Perhaps we could find out together." Mabel said smiling and I smiled back. She asked:"There is going to be a summer dance this weekend. You wanna go there with me?","As a date?" I asked and Mabel nodded. "Then yes." I answered with my heart beating fast, my cheeks burning but happy than ever before.

"You wanna get some ice cream?" Mabel asked. "They serve ice cream on the dance?" I stupidly asked, Mabel chuckled and said:"No, I meant now you dork.","Oh okay, yeah let's go then." I said and we went to a ice cream shop. Mabel got herself a ball of chocolate ice cream in waffle and I got myself a vanilla milkshake. We continued our walk and I asked:"So, you and your brother have an tourist attraction? My aunt told me about it.","Yes, it is called the Tent of Telepathy. Dipper does fortune-telling while I do magic tricks." Mabel answered. She then said:"Maybe you and Gideon wanna come to a show.","Sounds interesting. I ask Gideon once I'm home." I said and took a sip from my shake. "I would be honored to have in my show." Mabel said and I asked:"But those tricks are just fake and not like actual magic or are they?","Well, a true magician never reveals his secrets." Mabel answered and winked. That was slightly concerning answer however, I got the feeling that she would not tell what was actually going on. "Here, take these." Mabel said and gave me two tickets. I said:"Oh thank you but I can't accept that. I don't deserve special treatment just because we are friends.", Mabel said:"But...","No, no, I will pay for the tickets. You already bought me a expensive dress." I interrupted her and she said:"Well if you say so.", and shrugged her shoulders.

We walked to the park and sat down. For the rest of the day we sat there and talked about all sorts of things. The sun was slowly setting and Mabel said:"This looks so pretty but, not nearly as pretty your eyes.","Aww, thank you." I said charmed. Looking the sun slowly disappering reminded me that I need to go back to the Shack. I said:"Well, I think it's time to go back.","I walk you home." Mabel said. "Thank you, but you don't need to." I said. Mabel said:"But I want to.","Well then let's go." I said. On our way to the Shack I noticed that Mabel froze, which was no surprise since it was getting cold. I took my jacket off and put it over Mabel's shoulders. I said:"Here, so you won't freeze.","Oh thank you but, what about you?" Mabel asked. "I'm fine, really." I said and Mabel blushed again. "Looks like it's already keeping you warm." I said jokingly and Mabel blushed even more.

We arrived at the Shack and I said:"So here we are.","Yeah, let me just give you your jacket back." Mabel said and wanted take it off. I stopped her and said:"No, keep it for the walk to you home.","You're sure?" She asked and I said:"Yes I am.","Good night then." She said. I gave her a kiss on the cheek and said:"Good night to you too.", Mabel then left and I went inside. I walked into the kitchen for dinner and my family was already eating. "Pacifica, there you are." Aunt Susan said. "Yeah I was gone longer than originally planned." I responded and ate.

I was lying in bed awake. My mind was flooded with all sorts of thougts. I wasn't able to believe that this was happening.

-Mabel's Pov-

I returned home. Dipper was sitting in a armchair and reading a book. "So, how did it go?" Dipper asked and I answered:"They are both coming to the show. Then we will have a chance to take the book.", I sat down on a armchair next to his and sighed. Dipper looked up and asked:"Is everything okay?","It's just...I feel bad using Pacifica in such a way. She doesn't deserve that." I answered looking down. Dipper stood up, walked over to me and put his hand on my shoulder. He said:"I know that it's hard but, what are you doing is for the greater good. Remember that. You know what they say, the show must go on."...
