While everyone else was watching the first round, I was sulking over dramatically in the corner about my partner. It's only been a few days, but I see how he is in class. He's a total pervert. And my costume is skin tight like, this is the worst.
"You okay?" Todoroki asked sitting down beside me and I look over at him my head still leaned against the wall.
"Yeah, just not wanting to go. I was so excited until I got Mineta as a partner." I mumble folding my arms like a little kid, "Totally not fair."
"I wish I could tell you that it could be worse, but I don't think it can." Todoroki said and I nodded, this seriously was worse case scenario.
"So... why do you keep your fire side covered?" I ask and Todoroki goes quiet, "I mean you don't have to tell me. I was just curious."
And he didn't end up telling me but I could see a look of sadness in his eyes. So I didn't push further. I was just glad that I was the one he was sitting with. I would rather not be alone, and for some reason I feel really comfortable in this silence. It wasn't awkward at all.
"He looks like he's got a little true evil in him." Todoroki told me quietly as we watched the screen, he was talking about Bakugo.
"Yeah, he kind of does." I whisper back, we couldn't hear what they were saying but I knew it was nothing nice.
"He doesn't come off as a guy with a strategy. But he's actually quite intelligent." Todoroki said and I look at him with a raised eyebrow, "He changed his trajectory while in midair using a blast that doubles as a smokescreen. Very clever."
"Oh." I say quietly as I look back a the screen.
Midoriya and Uraraka, the hero team won. Except Midorya broke his arm, and by broke it looked like he literallly shattered it to pieces. So now all three of them except for Midoriya were standing in front of us to discuss their match.
"Well despite the results the MVP of this exercises is young Iida!" All might announced which surprised everyone.
"Shouldn't it be one of the heros instead since they're the winners?" Asui asked but now that I think about it, Iida being the MVP makes all too much sense.
"Mm. Valid question." All Might replied, "Why didn't I choose one of those two? Who has a guess?"
I was going to raise my hand but Momo, being as smart as I was beat me too it, "Sir! I can tell you why. Iida embraced this challenge. He was the only one who truly adapted to his assigned role. I'll explain. Bakugo's judgement was clouded by a personal grudge against Midoriya. As you pointed out earlier, launching a large scale attack indoors was a foolish move. It could have been disastrous. Similarly, Midoriya's plan was also poorly thought out, considering the amount of damage that he received. He rendered himself helpless. Not smart. As for Uraraka... she let her guard down mid-battle and her final attack was far to reckless given the hypothetical stakes if she'd treated the fake weapon as though it were real, she never would've risked using such an imprecise move. Iida was fully prepared for his opponent's arrival. He had a stradegy and never lost sight of his mission to protect the dummy weapon, even if he was foiled in the end. Technically the hero team won, yes, but they took advantage of the fact that this was training. They didn't respect the spirit of the trial."
And that was exactly it. Exactly what I was thinking, but I didn't think to go into detail of all the others in the exercise. All I knew was the Iida had the best strategy of taking out everything that Uraraka could make float.
"Yes... well, you overlooked a few things. Young Ida could have relaxed a little bit in the exercise, but otherwise, you nailed it." All Might said giving her a thumbs up.
"One should always start with the basics and devote themselves wholeheartedly to learning. That's the only real way to become a top hero." Yaoyorozu explained and I half nod, she was partially right, but it's so boring going by her way.
"Let's move on to the next match! Think about everything we saw and discussed as you tackle this training for yourself." All might explained and then the matches continued and I loved watching everyone's strengths and weaknesses.
Although if I was going to make Todoroki my friend, which I think we kind of were. I was going to have to figure out how to make him a team player. I mean yeah his power is cool, but he was the only one that really even did anything. Like seriously dude?
By the time my turn came I was about ready to just beat up my own teammate over the other team. He kept starring at my body and I was so ready to just knock him unconscious and go in alone. But I mean, what kind of hero behavior would that be I guess.
As the villains I just perched up in a part of the ceiling I found to get away from Mineta and surprise the hero team. Perfect strategy if I do say so myself, which I do. We were against Jiro and Kaminari which meant I had to really be quiet.
Lightining came in through the floor and Mineta dodged it as I jumped down through the hole. I keep my eyes open despite the burning to keep Jiro and Kaminari's powers off as I use my other ability. I run at them touching both of their arms causing strings to form around their wrists and ankles like puppets.
Okay, so maybe I work better alone too.
