"Emma, have you seen the popcorn bowl?" Mikey called out to Emma, who was sitting on the couch, looking through DVD's for a movie.
Finding a nice action/romance one she and Mikey would both like, she placed it on the table. "In the cupboard beside the stove!" She called back, excited to spend the day with her brother.
Things had been a bit tense lately with Mikey and his friends, other than Draken. Mikey had been sleeping less, trying to improve himself more, and had been a bit moody, but to Emma, he was nothing other than sweet and caring.
Though, Mikey and his grandfather hadn't spoken much, and really didn't talk in general, they'd been a bit closer than ever, seemingly finally having a connection.
Emma liked this, as Mikey was so nice and playful to her, and Shinichiro when he was alive, and he even told her he loved and forgave Izana, he was never close to their grandfather. The most present he really was, was when he taught them in the dojo, partially because he was a busy man, and mainly because he was dealing with heavy grief during Mikey and Emma's impressionable age.
Shinichiro had to raise his little siblings, so neither one had much connection with Mansaku.
Before she knew it, Mikey appeared with popcorn on the couch beside her, with a happy smile on his face and excitement in his eyes.
Emma smiled too. This was her brother.
"Should I go put the disk in? You should stay on the couch, I'll go." Mikey said as he got up, a bit frantic, quickly putting the disk in the dvd player.
He sat back down on the couch, moving the popcorn to the table.
A few minutes in to their movie, Mikey gasped. Emma looked at him, confused. He reached over to grab the remote and paused the movie.
He turned to his sister, his eyes showing he held gossip. Emma's favorite genre of real life drama.
She knew immediately, turning to him seriously. "Alright, spill." She said, grabbing the popcorn.
"Okay, I was at a cafe today getting hot chocolate for me, Hina-Chan, and Takemitchy. When I was waiting there was a couple fighting." Emma gasped, it was rare to see that where they lived.
"Publicly? Could you hear what they were fighting about?" Mikey nodded. "So the girl said since he cheated, they were over, but he started insulting her, saying she was fat and ugly, but she wasn't," Mikey noticed how his sisters eyes widened, and he nodded.
"He did not say that! Oh my gosh!" She said, hand over her mouth.
He nodded again, "He did! I was thinking the same thing! But then she said he doesn't even wash his ass and she put up with it, so how was her weight a problem?" His sassy, soft side for Emma entailed things like this, knowing she needed a friend to match her energy, he made sure to be that friend, even telling gossip like she would.
Emma laughed a bit, "She got him good, like how can you be a cheater and smell bad? It doesn't add up!"
"Exactly! But then he got really mad and tried to slap her. I stopped him, and after a bit of me getting him to apologize, I found out he cheated with a fifteen year old. Of course I hit him," Mikey said, liking how that man definitely got a beating from his girlfriend after.
Emma held her hand up, giving him a high five, as if saying, 'good job'.
He then continued. "But I didn't even need to. The lady said she was gonna take care of him, since she only found this out right before the cafe. Then our drinks were ready, and you get the rest. I didn't even get a warning from the cafe, they said it was fine, and I was supposed to be kicked out, but they let it slide." Mikey finished his story, glad he remembered to tell Emma.
