Marianne's POV
I step onto the stuffy tour bus and a cloud of cigarette smoke engulfs my lungs. I just need to get in and out as quickly as possible. I hold in a cough as I walk to the back of the bus to locate Alex Turner, the front-man of the band my law firm represents- The Arctic Monkeys. Even though they were on tour, the legal shit never stops with these boys.
I spot Alex lounged on the couch writing in a notebook.
"What are you doing here Marianne, lovely to see you as always." Alex says with a smirk.
"Oh, hi Mr. Turner, I just need to go over a few details of this contract with you." I say looking up from the stack of papers in my hands.
Alex chuckles and shakes his head slightly at me. "I've told you before, you can drop the 'Mr.' and just call me Alex." He responds and putting both hands in the pockets of his jeans.
"That's not going to happen, Mr. Turner. I prefer to keep things professional." I retort.
"Yeah, okay. Shall we sit." Alex asks as he gestures to the seat in front of him.
"Thank you." I respond as I sit opposite to him. "So this is just a basic Artist Performance Agreement with the venue that you will be performing at next. It just outlines the basics, you know the drill. Just look over it and if you have any questions I'll answer them." I explain as I slide the lengthy document and a pen to Alex. All the other boys signed along with their manager, Mr. Thompson.
Alex nods and takes the contract and looks down at it, quickly skimming over all the 'fine print' details. After a few moments he looks up at me while tapping the pen against the stack of papers. "Seems fine to me." Alex mumbles.
"That was quick." I chuckle lightly. "Are you sure you don't have any questions?" I press.
Alex cocks his head to the side, pretending to be deep in thought. "Actually. I do have just one question." Alex finally answers.
"Okay what is it?" I ask.
"...Actually, it's somewhat of a personal question. So if you don't mind, can you answer it for me?" Alex asks somewhat suspiciously.
"As long as it doesn't cross any 'attorney-client' lines." I laugh lightly.
Alex leans forward on with his elbows on his knees, looking me in the eyes. "...Are you single." He says seductively.
My cheeks get hot instantly, I push the glasses up on my face before I answer,"I-uh, sorry this isn't really related to my business here." I rush to gather the documents Alex had signed.
Alex looks at me with an amused expression, watching me get flustered and struggle as the redness in my cheeks becomes apparent to him. "So is that a yes, or a no?" Alex presses on as he leans back in the chair and crosses his arms in front of him.
"I-I'll see you later Mr. Turner." I say as I frantically run off the bus.
I rush off to gather my thoughts. My firm has had the Arctic Monkeys as clients for a few years now and helped them with the legal side of releasing their third studio album, 'Suck it and See.' I have been chief counsel for the Monkeys for a few months since I got promoted to Partner. I had my dream job. Even though the frontman- Alex Turner, had a habit of jokingly flirting with me, I vowed to never cross that line with a client. Ever. My career was too import to waste on a fling.
I didn't usually come on any sorts of tours or performances for nay of my other clients before, but since I am now chief counsel I stayed as an unofficial member of the crew. The boys were always getting into trouble and some of the venues will try to haggle bands when an attorney isn't around.
As I exit the bus at the second to last stop on the 'Suck it and See' tour, I take in the landscape in front of me. The Monkeys are ending their tour in their hometown of Sheffield. Although I would love to explore, I had heaps of work to do.
