Alex's POV

I follow Marianne inside and take in her apartment. It was small but so her. All of the word scattered around and musical instruments in the corner and loads of records. My eyes widen slightly as I look around, a small smirk on my face as I turn to her. "Wow, love. So you're quite the musical artist too."

She chuckles, "yeah it's really just a hobby of mine. I'm not any good but it's fun to mess around sometimes." She says as she tosses her bag on the kitchen counter.

I smile as she talks about making music, my mind already imagining her playing the piano or singing at the record player. I lean against the counter and cock an eyebrow at her. "No good? You're probably being too hard on yourself, love. I'm sure you're great."

"Well I'm no 'musical genius' like you." She jokes as she jumps up on the counter it sits down facing me. My instinctively let my eyes hover on her figure for a bit too long. She's at just the right height for me to pull her forward and into my arms...but that would be breaking one of our 'rules's right out the gate. I keep my hands to myself and try to distract my thoughts with conversation instead. "You don't gotta tell me I'm a musical genius. I already know that, love."

"Of course." She responds. I take a deep breath and rake a hand through my hair, an awkward silence settling over us as I watch you sitting on the counter. My mind is still reeling from being in your space alone with you like this, and I want nothing more than to take you right here and now. I continue to just look at her, trying to think of something else to say.

"Uh so, here- let me give you the grand tour." She finally says as she hops down from the counter. I shake my head at her proposition and follow her around.

"Okay so this is the kitchen...obviously." She laughs and gestures to the room we have been standing in. "The living room slash music area I guess." She says as we enter the next space. I let out a small laugh at her description of the room. I follow you as we head towards your office. "This is where the magic happens." She says gesturing towards the office. There's a standing desk, cabinets and all over her degrees and accomplishments littering the walls.

I let out a low whistle as I look around the office. "Damn, love. I knew you were smart, but I feel like I should be bowing down to you or something."

"Oh please, do bow down to me." She responds in a posh accent.

I let out a small hug and roll my eyes.

"It's pretty much all I've done. Sometimes I wish I could've just been a nomad...in another life." she says as she exits the office and heads towards her bedroom.

"A nomad huh? You could still do that if you want. Just quit work and run away with me."

"You know what, I might just do that. You guys are a lot of work." She laughs and opens the door to her bedroom.

I roll my eyes playfully at her comment, chuckling to myself as I follow her into her room. I can feel my pulse rate pick up as I look around, I can't help but imagine what it would be like to be on top of her in that bed.

"Oh hi my sweet baby girl." Marianne says in a sweet baby voice.

She flops on her bed next to a fluffy cat. The cat looks at me, as if she's questioning my presence.

"Come here Alex, she won't bite. This is Maisey." She says as she holds the cat in her arms.

I walk in and sit on the edge of the bed. "Hi Maisey, I'm Alex." I say and give the cat a scratch behind the ears.

The cat immediately purrs in response to my touch, a small smirk forming on my face. "Well I'll be damned. Maisey seems to like me."

"Wow!" Marianne laughs and she touches me on the thigh.
