EP 10 Dunk & Phuwin's Past Pt1

There was no way to explain but Dunk was a person without a past. He had no memory of it. The only memory he had started from the day he met Phuwin. He was sitting on the dirty ground at a corner of the town square. It was a busy town where different creatures of the night visited since it was neutral ground. Phuwin took noticed of a lone vampire tucked in a corner. He was too pale, almost greyish at this point. Phuwin took the vial of blood that his guardian had given him for moments were he might be hungry since they travelled far. He shoved it towards Dunk.

"You must be hungry, take this." Dunk raised his head to see a young fledgling giving him a vial of blood. He took it with shaky hands. He had emptied it within seconds. The colour slowly returning to his face.

"You look so much better now. I'm Phuwin by the way. Phuwin" Phuwin beamed at Dunk, pointing towards himself as he repeated his name.

"Phu... win..." It was the first word that Dunk spoke. Dunk didn't know how Phuwin's smile could be brighter than before. Phuwin had so much more to say before Dunk suddenly grabbed him and used his body to shield him. Phuwin was shocked when he saw claws slashing across Dunk's back but Dunk didn't flinch at all. He pushed Phuwin to the corner, shielding him from the eyes of his attackers. There were 4 werewolves crowding them. Dunk's claws lengthened before hissing at them. Phuwin was confused when one moment Dunk was in front of him, the next moment the four of them had collapsed to the ground. Two without their head, two with their hearts gorged out. The people in the town square gasped. 

While the law enforcing officers didn't see the werewolves attacking a fledgling by the name of Phuwin Tangsakyuen, they saw Dunk murder four werewolves on neutral ground. They were about to take him away to be prosecuted. Phuwin couldn't understand why when Dunk was only trying to save him. 

"Don't take my hia away!" The officers were surprised when they heard Phuwin's voice. They didn't noticed him before.  

"They attacked me first. Hia was only protecting me" Phuwin hugged Dunk tightly. Phuwin was only slightly taller than Dunk's waist. Dunk stroke Phuwin's hair. He had not said a word to defend himself through the process. 

"Phuwin, Phuwin!!" Phuwin's aunt has quickly rushed towards him along with a few others who were his guardian as well. That was when the officers knew that Phuwin was the heir of the Tangsakyuen clan. If the werewolves were aiming to kill the heir of the Tangsakyuen clan, then it goes without saying that Dunk had every right to kill them. They let Dunk go. After walking for a distance, only did Phuwin's aunt speak.

"Thank you, thank you for saving Phuwin. We wouldn't know what to do if you weren't here. We really don't know how to repay you."  

"Let hia stay with me. He has no home." Phuwin's aunt was about to reject the idea, looking at the state of Dunk.

"Hia stays with me!" Phuwin shouted, which surprised his guardians. His determination shocked them. Phuwin had always been a quiet child and never spoken much. She had nodded while looking at the others, who nodded along. They were all too stunned by his reaction. But Dunk didn't miss the odd way they eyed each other. His grip on Phuwin tighten.

Phuwin was beaming the whole way home. He had pulled Dunk to the shower. He showered with him when he saw how clueless he was. Dunk mimicked his every move. Phuwin was drying Dunk's hair when he heard Dunk spoke. He had realized he knows the language when he heard them spoke.

"why... Phuwin... call me... hia?" Dunk looked at Phuwin in confusion. 

"Cause you protected me. No one has protected me like you do. I heard from other fledglings in the clan spoke about how their hia fought off bullies for them. I had envied them since I have no one. But the Moon Goddess must have heard my wish. She sent you to me. Hia!" He hugged Dunk tightly. Dunk stroke his hair.
