Chapter Thirteen:

The Primordial Guardians Convene

************************************

kidnapped by dragons and imprisoned by dwarfs. Not how I'd thought this week was gonna go. Now chained in a damp cell Carved out in the Side of a tunnel. with the dim flickering light of a torch bathing the walls. It's hard to even guess how long we've been here. Barllard the jailer/ guard has fed us 12 no… 13 times now.

He refuses to speak to us and I'm unsure if Nolan and Aeric are okay. We haven't seen them since we were separated. If I had to guess it's been over a week. I've spent most of it extremely sick. So I've slept the majority of the time we've been here.

Nicole seems determined to slip the cuff chaining her to the wall. I think she's losing it. She scolded me earlier about my inner emotions. Not sure what she's on about.

I'd just fallen back asleep when Ballard and a group of guards opened the cell and yanked the chains to wake me up. On your feet, you are to appear in front of the council. before you're formally sentenced.

We walked in the cold tunnels for what seemed like an eternity. Until we came to a large door framed in stone. Beyond the door was a hall similar to what you'd find in the palace. We were led into a room where they removed the chains.

Leaving us staring at old elves? I didn't know elves could even look old… they explained that given our status in the human kingdom we were allowed to clean up before going in front of the Council of Guardians.

I was shocked when I realized just how dirty I'd become. My once light purple dress was now littered with small burn marks and smeared black from the fire magic. And Nicole was of a similar appearance. The elves weren't nearly as gentle as Lizzy. Though in the end we were clean and in dresses similar to those we were used to.

I'm not sure what I expected but I never imagined the council would be an open-roofed colosseum if you replaced the thousands of seats with 12 very large platforms. Around the center field, You'd get this structure.

I almost fainted when the large white dragon Landed on the central platform. It made a look that seemed to be glaring at us. As we descended into the lower open field. Aeric and Nolan stood at our destination on a smaller flat stone.

More dragons landed filling the 12 platforms. As we made it to the flat large stone a much smaller green dragon About the size of a short bus landed. With the flap of its wings and the thumbs from its claws. As it touched down we all were knocked over.

In a smooth soft voice that reminded me of Lizzy the small green dragon spoke, “My deepest apologies, children are you all okay.”

The large white dragon in the center in a snarling voice of an old man roared, “Flora”

The green one next to us sighed, “Yes Edur, what is the meaning of this?”

Edur glared at her “You know as well as all of us here the chaos heroes bring to our lands.”

Flora seemed to pout, “It's not their fault you know there is a necessary piece to the balance of the 13 realms…”

Flora was interrupted as all 12 of the dragons started laughing with enough power the ground under us shook.

The blue dragon spoke first with a cackle, “Look here little one that chunk of land you call a realm is merely stolen ground… while we let you speak for the humans. This council will never recognize you as a guardian of a realm.”

Flora roared, “Yuri herself gave mankind that land and created me to protect it.”

The air began to smell like a forest as little plants began sprouting around us.

Edur snarled with snowflakes coming from his Nostrils "Chill out Flora I won't have this nonsense behavior in my lands."

Mist came from Azure as she snarled, as pathetic As ever you don't even have a useful element.

“Enough” the red dragon snarled.

Edur sighed, thank you now Flora of the 4 heroes that have come before us you must choose 2 to die here and now.

Flora Snorted, “four?!? There's only 1 human hero. The twins and the oldest are merely legacy born.”

“Nonsense we can smell their Heros!” Azure roared.

“Silence,” Edur Roared glaring in Azures’ direction.

“It's the truth,” Flora squealed.

My head began to spin as their conversation continued. Soon enough the tiny sprouting plants had covered the stone floor.

Edur's voice boomed, “I told you I wouldn't tolerate your stupid plants.”

A stream of ice shot out as Flora wrapped her wings around us. She screamed in pain. When her screaming stopped the air was rich in the smell of soil with a mix of flowery smells.

As she uncovered us, her wings shattered like a stone statue. She walked a few steps away before collapsing on the ground huffing for air.

“Teleportation!” Nolan gasped excitedly.

“We aren't that lucky, it's domain magic…” I grumbled as I stared at the remnants of Flora's wings.

We now stood in an open field surrounded by a forest. heavily overgrown with undergrowth

“What difference does it make it's still teleporting?” Nolan pouted.

Now irritated, I responded. “No, it's distance manipulation you idiot that's why she had to grow all those plants. On top of that, it means your destination has to be of her domain.”

… we all took turns for the next while the nerd within us seemed to compel further arguments.

“Why does it matter?” Nicole screamed.

I sighed “It matters because without her wings we are probably gonna have to walk the majority of the journey home… those trees aren't in any of the books I've read on plant life.”

I continued, “which means this is land likely still beyond those massive canyons. And is probably still in Edurs Realm. Though I can't be certain given I have no knowledge about these Realms according to everything I've read, there is nothing beyond the forbidden lands.”

Hopefully, when Flora wakes up she'll know where we are. I began whispering as I saw a large figure in the forest beyond…

I Hope You Enjoyed
