Chapter Twenty-Three:
Demon With Pink Hair.
************************************
Once again I've angered Cleo… I didn't mean for the whole argument to get out of hand. But well it did. And I've got to fix it.
Once I left the office I had to go straight to my swordsmanship class. Unlike kids my age I'm in accelerated learning which means I'm taking three grade levels of classes at the same time. I'm expected to become a 4th-year student at the end of my first year… which isn't a problem given I'm a walking Encyclopedia.
I spend one day a week in the 1st year classes and 2 days in the second and third-year classes.
So I can't really make friends or even build my party for the adventures to come if this continues. The clear answer was clubs and extra after-school classes. I didn't expect to see Cleo or Nicole so when I did I instinctively called out.
“Cleo…?” I yelled without thinking. I blinked and barely had time to block her strike. I was relieved when the sticks shattered.
“You two love birds look like you need to fight it out” the instructor muttered faintly as he tossed her another weapon!?!? “Can you not tell she has gone full psycho?” I thought. Again I was barely able to block her strike.
I've yet to feel this level of pressure from an opponent. And it's clear she only just started learning… she landed her first strikes on my legs. The impacts resonated through my bones.
In my dazed state, she hit my hands and pushed my stick aside… as she swung for my head I instinctively used the last trick up my sleeve… I teleported. It's not perfect magic and I didn't have time to think of a destination. When I drew the magic circle. So I ended up in the nearby lake. No not a lake. A moat… great just great.
That was the last of my mana… and in this Situation, I can't focus on drawing more from around me. It took nearly the rest of the day to be rescued… from the moat. Well rescued Isn't exactly right. I've been here less than a week and this is my second time being Interrogated...
The royal guards weren't buying my story… eventually I was charged with fleeing from a royal. Which makes me sound like a piece of property… twice in a day I've gotten in trouble. Both times Cleo was involved, maybe I should avoid her…
As if that's an option. I spent the night in the palace dungeons. I was released before sunrise. On the condition I finish my spar with Princess Cleo… “So it's an execution?” I thought to myself.
Luckily I was able to avoid her the rest of the week. I'm the hero yet she managed to beat me down to the point my only option was to run. Granted she didn't break any bones with her strikes. So perhaps, I would've survived that strike. I don't really wanna find out though.
I feel as if I've been run over by a truck… I was left with some nasty bruises. But oddly as time passes. I'm starting to think another duel might be fun.
Yeah straight-up absurd Insanity... think I'm losing my mind fighting her. You might as well try stopping a runaway train with your bare hands.
Yet my heart is racing in anticipation just thinking about such madness. Her aura alone sends a chill down your spine. Like how the heroes from the archives describe the presence of a demon in battle.
With how quickly she goes from a nice innocent-looking girl to your worst nightmare. An evil demon… maybe there's some merit to that thought?
She seemed so weak and defenseless. When we'd ended up in the snow. But at the rate she drew in mana and used it in that fight. She should've been able to keep that fire going all by herself while barely trying. But I guess she didn't know fire magic back then. That level of magic Flux and body fortification magic is insane even by hero standards…
