The bells of shinganshina rung as the gate began to open by the Garrason man and the survey corp has finally returned from their failed expedition. All soldiers were injured, devastated, exhausted and hopeless and their mission was nothing but failure.

"Are these only ones who made it back?"

"Looks like another massacre this time..."

"Even though over 100 of them set out on the survey...there are less than 20 people...then the rest of got eaten?"

"Moses!! Moses!!"

Commander Shadis stopped walking when an old woman approached him as she cried for her son.

"Excuse me...my son I don't see my son Moses, here...where is my son...?!" The old woman desperately asked as she clutched Shadis cloak. Levi, Mai and Amaya were on top of their horses stiffening on their place.

The three of them looked down and their eyes were darkened as their remember as they watched their comrade was eating.

"This is Moses's mother...bring it " Shadis ordered his officer.

The soldier nod and walked towards Moses's horse, which Amaya was holding and the remaining body part of Moses covered in a white cloth, she gave the remaining body to her comrade.

"Eh?" The old woman said.

As the soldiers went towards Moses mother and passed is to her. She slowly unwrapped the cloth and saw her son armed." That's all...we were able to get back." Shadis said.

The old woman began to cry as embraced her son only arm.

Everyone was stared at the poor old woman with a shock look, while the other's glared at the survey corp.

"...but my son...was useful to you, wasn't he?" Moses mother said.

Shadis froze, as he couldn't answer.

"Even if he didn't achieve anything directly...brought humanity one step closer to beating them back, right?!"

The commander gulped.

"Of course!"

Shadis suddenly pause and looked down.

"...no...our survey this time...time, too...we..." he looked down, gritted his teeth.

"We accomplished...nothing!!"

"Because of my incompetence...!!
All I did was get my soldiers killed...!! We didn't get any closer...to finding out what those things really are!!"
