I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved

Old times ahead,

The morning sunlight gently filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow in the bedroom. Akriti lay awake, staring at the ceiling, lost in a sea of thoughts that threatened to overwhelm her. Beside her, Yash slept peacefully, his face calm and peaceful, a stark contrast to the turmoil inside her.

It had been two years since they got married. Their marriage had been hurried because of their first pregnancy, which ended in heartbreak. Since then, Akriti had suffered two more miscarriages, each taking a heavier toll on their relationship. Their once happy home felt tense and cold.

Careful not to disturb Yash, Akriti slipped out of bed and quietly made her way to the kitchen. The house was silent except for the hum of the refrigerator. As she made coffee, she remembered the early days of their marriage when everything seemed perfect. Now, it felt like they were constantly walking on eggshells around each other.

Yash entered the kitchen, his hair messy from sleep and eyes clouded with fatigue. "Morning." He mumbled, heading straight for the coffee.

"Morning." Akriti replied softly, her voice heavy with unspoken emotions.

They sat at the table, the silence between them thick and uncomfortable. Yash finally broke the uneasy quite. "Are you going to the doctor again today?"

Akriti nodded, her throat tightening with emotion. "Yes, I have an appointment this afternoon."

Yash sighed, his frustration clear. "Akriti, I don't know how much more of this I can take. It feels like we're chasing after something that may never happen."

Tears welled up in her eyes, her voice trembling as she struggled to keep her composure. "I need to try, Yash. I need to know that we've done everything we could."

She wanted to be sure that there was nothing wrong with them. She wanted a child, their offspring.

She couldn't bear to lose such an important part of her life.

"But at what cost?" His voice turned shaper. "Our happiness? Our marriage is crumbling under the weight of this constant struggle. I can't stand seeing you like this."

Akriti felt a pang of guilt. "So what are you saying? That we should just give up?"

Yash reached out, his hand finding hers across the table. "No, Akriti, I'm saying maybe we need to find a different way. To focus on us, on our relationship, instead of putting all our energy into something that's causing us so much pain."

His words hurt, and she looked away, unable to meet his eyes. "I just don't want to feel like I've failed."

Yash reached out, his hand covering hers. "You haven't failed, Akriti. But this isn't healthy for either of us. We need to find a way to be happy together, whether or not we have a child."

Her tears flowed freely now, blending with a mix of sadness and frustration. "I don't know how to let go of this dream, Yash." Yash pulled her into a tight embrace, his arms offering both solace and uncertainty.
