Third Person POV~
"Why did Emersyn just scream?" Leo questioned as he stuffed his face with Cheeto puffs. Melina laughed a bit before Looking toward the stairs as they all heard footsteps coming down the stairs, " Emersyn's best friend came home." Melina said as she walked towards the kitchen, Jensen looked at Leo and then back towards the stairs. Jensen has been waiting to meet Emersyn's best friends.
Seeing Emersyn appear first from the staircase, They both sat up wanting to see her best friend but couldn't due to the wall towards the kitchen, "Zo, These are my kind of friends." Jensen sent her a playful glare.
Jensen gaped in astonishment as he caught sight of her face. Her hair was elegantly tied up in a ponytail, and a radiant smile adorned her face. She had always been beautiful, but after seven years, she looked absolutely stunning. The last time he saw her was at her graduation.
She hadn't noticed him yet, still laughing at something Emersyn had said before descending the stairs. Her eyes briefly closed, then opened slowly. When her gaze finally settled on Jensen, the smile on her face faded as she realized who was sitting on Emersyn's couch.
"Um, Jensen... Right?" Zo stammered, feeling Emersyn's hand guiding her to the living room. "Y-yeah, it's good to see you, Zo," He said, nervously rolling her lips into her mouth and giving a curt nod. Emersyn pinched her side, clearly noticing her discomfort. "You guys know each other?" Emersyn asked, confusion evident in her words.
"Yes," Jensen replied.
"No," Zo responded simultaneously. Jensen was taken aback by her stern response. Zo turned her head to the side, looking at Emersyn. She wasn't lying – she had never spoken to him before. She was completely confused as to why he said they knew each other. "We... I don't-"
"Wait so you know her, Jensen?" Leo questioned motioning toward Zo. Jensen nodded slowly as he continued to stare at Zo as Emersyn walked hand in hand into the living room. "Yeah...I mean kinda. We went to the same high school and we were neighbors, My friends were friends with her," Zo furrowed her eyebrows in confusion at him throwing around the 'friend' word. Zo was never friends with any of his friends. Zo rolled her lips into her mouth not wanting to respond to his statement so she just looked at Emersyn as they talked with their eyes.
"Zo, Baby. Are you heading back to your Uncle and Auntie's house or are you staying here?" Emersyn's mother asked from the kitchen. Turning, she saw Emersyn's mother looking through the doorway.
"Oh, No mam. I have my own place across town," Zo replied, nudging Emersyn "Well, It's about to start pouring. A thunderstorm alert was sent out. I don't want you on the roads," Emersyn's mother said, concerned. Nodding, Zo placed her hand in Emersyn's.
"I'm going to head out, Em. I'll see you tomorrow," Zo said. Emersyn squinted at Zo, noticing her sudden discomfort. Nodding, Zo stood up and grabbed her phone. "It was nice meeting you..."
"Leo, It was nice to meet you too. Zo," Emersyn said with a smile before walking with Zo towards the door. Once they were out of earshot, Emersyn placed her hand on the doorknob before Zo could. "Peaches... What was that? You were fine before you saw him," Emersyn questioned. Zo shook her head before opening the door with a quick sigh.
"Nothing, It's fine, trust me. You and Jensen seem really close, No I'm not lying. I just don't know him nor do I want to know him. I'll text you when I make it to my place. Promise," Zo reassured her. Zo placed a quick kiss on Emersyn's cheek before stepping across the threshold of the front door. "I love you..." Emersyn shouted. Turning on her heels, Zo blew her another kiss. "I love you too, Bubba."
Time Skip~
"Kylie, let's talk about this. You know how annoyed I get when people throw around the word "friend" loosely. What's confusing is why he would claim we're friends when the most I've ever said to him was 'hey,' and even then, it was always begrudgingly because we were neighbors." Zo propped her phone up against the sink in her bathroom and rolled her eyes, clearly irritated by the thought of Jensen. Kylie chuckled as she watched Zo grow increasingly frustrated.
