you know how i feel

⍣ ೋ THE SCENERY OF her favorite park left her breathless time and time again. the allergy-inducing breeze surprisingly calmed her. the near palm trees gave her childhood nostalgia and warmed her heart. how could a place envoke so many emotions that people couldnt?

"what did you do this weekend?" vinnie asked her.

"literally nothing. you?"

"i saw bryn for a brand deal." he shrugged.

"she didn't tell me that," nora whispered to herself when she looked up at vinnie. he looked angelic in the scenery, but he always managed to look good. even when he drooled straight from his mouth during a deep sleep, "what brand deal?"

"well.. we didnt quite finish it, so ill have to film it again. but it was amazon." he mumbled. dont tell her.

"you didnt finish it? no deadline?" nora chuckled nervously.

"i guess not."

the walk continued mostly quiet, except for the times nora would stop to look at squirrels playing tag on the tall trees. "look it!" she excitedly pointed to the playful animals.

the only thing vinnie could stare at was nora. her beautiful aura. her beautiful everything.

"they're cute." vinnie smiled.

they arrived at a random, splinter filled picnic bench in the park, and decided to sit there. thankfully, no one was in sight so they could have a real conversation. the reason they were walking around the park together was something of an ordinary weekend with nora and vinnie, talk about what they are, they both end up arguing about it, and it finalizes with mind-bendingly pleasurable sex. so to cut out the sex part, they decided to talk in public, but that probably wouldn't stop them from arguing.

"okay you go first." vinnie said sheepishly.

"what? what am i supposed to say?"

"i dont know... maybe explain why me and leon are in this sort of battle to see who can have you the most?" vinnie argued.

"um.. there is no battle. leon is my friend and will stay that way."

"okay, so what am i to you?" everytime vinnie asked this question he was always left with a half-assed "i dont know" or "im sorry". it was exhausting, "and i dont want some fucking 'i dont know' for an answer."

nora looked at him with exhaustion in her chocolatey eyes. she had no reason to be exhausted or confused about anything. she was becoming selfish and vinnie just wanted old nora.

"why do you keep asking me this, vin?"

"because you know how i feel about you. i want to know how you feel about me."

"i think youre amazing, and youre someone i really, deeply care about." nora refused eye contact.

"okay?" vinnie pried for more.

"vinnie, i dont know how to say it any other way than i dont know what im feeling for you. i dont think im ready to settle down for a relationship at this point in my life. im so busy and i dont have time to give you anything other than sex."

"you dont have time or you dont want to?"

"maybe both." nora whispered.

vinnie groaned in annoyance. her indecisiveness would kill him soon.

"do you have feelings for leon?"

"what? hell no."

"alright, so if you can be clear about your feelings for him why cant you be that way with me? is it because im your ex?" vinnie softened his voice and rested a comforting hand on the skin of her thigh, "take your time, el. i want a real answer."

her breath could be heard over the delicate gushes of wind that blew freely through the couples hair. on the bench, they sat knee to knee facing each other, but noras head was tilted down to avoid any intimate eye contact. vinnies hand looked so pretty against her freckle dotted skin it tore her heart took look at it.

"i just dont wanna hurt you again." her melody came off weak, and when vinnie pulled her chin to face him he was introduced to an emotional girl. it hurt him more to see her so upset, he pulled her in for a sweet hug. her sobs came out quiet and gentle, but he could feel the vibrations of her stressed cries. nora shifted impossibly closer and up onto his lap, allowing their embrace to deepen. she couldn't do something like this for attention, or with the intent of using him, it was the vulnerability scaring her into this emotional state.

"i wanna be yours," vinnie replied truthfully, "and i'll wait as long as it takes for that to happen."
