MATT REACHES FOR HIS PHONE, which sits snugly in the palm of his hand as his other hand rests lightly against the steering wheel. the soft, warm glow of the sunrise filters into his car, casting a gentle golden hue over everything it touches. despite the early hour, it's already 7 a.m, and matt finds himself patiently waiting for his brothers to finish getting ready.
he scrolled through his social media feed for a few minutes before opening his contacts and tapping the call button. his fingers moved swiftly, almost controlling themselves. after a few moments, a soft, weary voice came through the line. "what do you want, matt?" vivienne asked.
"rude," he teased. "are you ready?"
there was a hint of confusion in her response. "ready for what?"
he chuckled. "for school. you're riding with us."
a cough comes from vivienne's end and he can tell she's distancing the phone away quickly, like his words shocked her somehow before her voice becomes clear again, "no i'm not."
