Unexpected Realization

Mingi guided Hongjoong up and dragged him out of the studio to the rooftop. "Where.. Are we going? " Hongjoong sniffled between words as the arrived.

  Mingi finally stopped and held Hongjoong's hand and locked eyes with him. Hongjoong's tears glistened, tracing wet trails down his cheeks. Mingi couldn't help but widened his eyes as he saw how vulnerable the older was but he was also mesmerized by the fact that the sudden wind played with Hongjoong's hair, sending soft strands waving on his face. Hongjoong's eyes were mixed with both surprise and vulnerability.

  For a moment, all Mingi could do was stare at Hongjoong because of how angelic the shorter boy looked in front of him. The way the wind made Hongjoong's hair messy, the way his eyes shimmered under the moonlight, everything about that moment made Mingi's heart race.

  After calming the older down, Mingi didn't hesitate to interlock his fingers with Hongjoong's as he probably knew Hongjoong needed it and he was right. Hongjoong did needed it because soon after that Mingi could see a smile spreading across Hongjoong's face which made Mingi's heart melted.

  Mingi then brought Hongjoong near the iron barrier on the roof and gazed at the stars and turned back to lend his hand to the boy was already confused but Hongjoong grabbed onto Mingi's hand and steadily stepped onto the bottom part of the iron barrier while Mingi fixed his gaze back onto the stars, staring at it silently.

  Out of curiosity, Hongjoong followed, looking at the stars as he pointed out to one specific star. Mingi quickly looked at where the hand pointed out to. After a moment of looking around, he spotted a star which shined brighter than the others in the sky. He looked at Hongjoong who was already staring back at Mingi. "Looks like you have something to tell me, what is it? " Mingi asked as he went closer to Hongjoong.

    "They say that the north star is the brightest star. Did you know that? " Hongjoong smiled as he leaned against the barriers that were secured well. Mingi observed every move of Hongjoong's as the older caught the younger staring. Mingi quickly looked away, trying to act casual but obviously his face was just exposing him. 

  Hongjoong chuckled and went closer to Mingi in an attempt to tease him. He went close to Mingi, poking his shoulders. Before Mingi could respond, Hongjoong wanted to startle Mingi but failed as he fell on to the younger boy who was already looking at Hongjoong with wide eyes. They both can see that their faces are red but they can't comment on anything. 

  The bustling noise of cities and cars slowly faded. Both of them were under a lamp so it made Mingi's heart race faster than before and their eyes never left each other when Mingi suddenly cradled Hongjoong's cheek with a touch. Mingi gently pulled Hongjoong closer, making the older gasp a bit. 

  A few seconds after looking at each other, Hongjoong closed the gap between them as he pressed his lips against Mingi's. Mingi's eyes widened and he could feel his heart begging to jump out of his chest. 

  Hongjoong placed his hands on Mingi's shoulder for support to not fall on him as he continued. It wasn't long until Mingi responded to the kiss. It was a kiss that was unspoken but both of them expected it. Mingi had has strong feelings for Hongjoong day by day ever since their debut but Mingi knew that Hongjoong will have a hard time if he told him. Imagining the conflict he would cause while Hongjoong does his role as a leader, it would put too much pressure on him too.

  Hongjoong parted his lips slightly as he blinked rapidly before slowly pulling away trying to process what just happened. Hongjoong felt regretful and worried. Mingi then widened his eyes, it was full with a mix of panic and exhilaration. He had kiss him. He had actually kissed Hongjoong.

  "Mingi..- Hongjoong finally said, his voice not more than a whisper. " Did you just..- The both of them got off each other and were now standing a few inches apart.

  "Yes, I.. I did.. " Mingi quickly said as he noticed the slight disappointment in Hongjoong's face but Mingi was just over thinking. Hongjoong was just bewildered. Plus, he needed a certain amount of time. "I'm sorry if I-"

  "Why did you do that? " Hongjoong took a step back, his eyes wide in confusion. Mingi has never felt so regretful but he just doesn't want to ruin the friendship between him and his leader. He really likes Hongjoong. More than just a helpful leader, a best friend, a supporter, more than anything. Mingi really has a feeling for Hongjoong which made his heart clenched whenever he's near him.

  Before Mingi could respond, his heart ached as he watched in dismay as Hongjoong's face fell. The light in his eyes darkened, replaced by a glaze of unshed tears in his eyes. Hongjoong trembled slightly as if he was holding a avalanche of emotions he wants to let go. Hongjoong blinked rapidly, hoping it will stop the tear from escaping but a trail of tears just droop down his cheeks. He quickly wiped it away but that was enough to express the depth of hurt and confusion.

  "I need to think about this.. " Hongjoong said in between sniffles while Mingi quickly nodded "Please do take your time, Hyung. " The older boy gave a small and hesitated nodded before walking away as he stop.

  "I think you should go back. " Hongjoong added as he walked back into the studio leaving Mingi all alone on top of the rooftop where the wind never stop coming. He sanked into the floor, head in his hands. He knew this was coming but never have he thought it hurt so much. Mingi went back to the dorm with red eyes. He then spotted Seonghwa who came out of the bathroom.

  "Mingi? What are you doing up so late? " The concern in Seonghwa's voice made Mingi burst into tears. Seonghwa quickly hugged Mingi in his arms as the younger cried irresistibly.

  Seonghwa didn't question Mingi as he knew that it's not the right time so in the morning, a lot of questions would be thrown at Mingi.

  Hey..! Well this isn't really happy instead, it's kind of sad. It kinda took me a while to make Chap2 as I kept forgetting to save but I hope you guys enjoy this!
