Petunia Dursley was lost.
For once in her life she didn't know what to do. She was heart broken after her beloved Vernon died, but at least he left her with a fair amount of money to live off before she got a job.
But that's the problem. She couldn't find one.
She began to depend heavily on her son, Dudley who had a good job and was helping her while she looked for her own. But, Petunia knew she couldn't depend on Dudley forever.
A few months after Vernon's death Dudley (reluctantly) left for a trip for work. And, Petunia took this as her cue to begin to work harder on finding a job. But coincidentally she came home to her house on fire.
She immediately called the Fire Department but by the time they came and put out the fire, only the right side of the house was left. She managed to salvage everything she could including things of her nephew's, Harry Potter and Dudley's.
it's been 2 days since that happened and she'd been staying at The Mitre Hotel. Finding a temporary home that didn't cost as much was a new necessity to add to her quickly, growing list.

Petunia sat peacefully on her bed sipping a cup of tea while watching the telly in her hotel room. Yet, she was barely paying attention. Her mind was too busy panicking on where to stay after tomorrow. She'd given herself three days to stay at the hotel and find another place to stay before she ran out of money.
She supposed she could talk to Dudley but she didn't want to worry him. She knew how important this trip was to him and his job. Or, she could stay with Vernon's sister, Marge. But, Petunia never liked those dogs and Petunia didn't think she could last a day surrounded by so many of those beasts. Or, she could stay at Dudley's wife's house. Oh, right she left with him.
That left one last option.
Oh, but how she hated it.
But! Her self-consciousness told her. You promised yourself you'd change! You're supposed to be nice now!
She sighed. As much as she didn't look forward to it, she might have no choice but to stay... there.
Petunia got up from her bed, turned off the telly, and got dressed in proper clothing before heading down to the closest telephone box outside.
Harry had sent a letter telling her his address and that he got a telephone should she ever need to contact him. Petunia knew that his... people sent letters differently, and their was no way she would send a letter with a bird! How Absurd these people were!
After making it down to the telephone box she dialed Harry's number and waited patiently for someone to answer.
"Harry! someone is finally calling us!" Said an excited, young Women's voice in the distance.
"Hello?" She answered a bit too loudly.
"Not so close to your mouth Gin." Said another muffled voice. This must be Harry, Petunia thought.
"Hello. This is Petunia Dursley. I'd like to speak with Harry Potter please." Petunia Answered, slightly annoyed by the chaos at the other end of the phone.
"Yes of course!" said the women followed by more muffled noises as they passed the phone.
"Hello? This is Harry Potter." said Harry.
"Hi. Is it possible if i could stay at your place for a couple of weeks? Dudley is out of town and the house burned down. I've been staying at the Mitre Hotel." Petunia replied.
"What? Yeah sure.. er, if you're okay with a toddler and infant running around the house. er, crawling more like." Said a very startled sounding Harry. "When would you like to come?"
Petunia hadn't even thought about the fact that Harry might have had kids by now. How is it that Dudley just got married but Harry already had two kids?
"Er, tomorrow..." She replied trying her hardest to stay polite.
"Oh, Merlin! So soon? Er, see you soon then." He answered, sounding awkward and startled at the same time. If that was even possible. Petunia didn't know what "Merlin" meant but didn't question, afraid that that would be rude.
"Yes. See you soon." Petunia said, ending the call. She didn't know why Harry was being so nice to her but she was glad she had more time all the same.

Later that night Petunia lay in bed, letting her thoughts take over.
She didn't know how she felt about staying at her nephews house. Worried that she would be staying at a magical household but also glad that she had a second chance with Harry. She knew Harry and Dudley kept in touch nowadays and was glad that her son and nephew could have a better relationship than the one they had as kids.
And she'd get to meet his kids! she wondered how close they would look like to their father. Oh, how excited she was for her own grandchildren!
She smiled at the idea of her own grandchildren before her eyes drifted close and she fell to sleep.
