I've Had Years of Regret... But Never You

Happy Birthday Henri!

Today was a big day. So big in fact that little Henri could not contain his excitement.

"Hurry Mommy hurry hurry!"

Leon chuckled. "I'm hurrying. Just give me two seconds. I need to get Daddy's wallet." Leon ran back up the stairs.

Henri looked so confused. "Why does Mommy need Daddy's money?"

Dominique chuckled and ruffled his hair. "Oh little one... when you are much older and have a mate you'll understand."

"Ew! I don't want that. I am going to stay with Mama forever!"

Dominique laughed softly. How cute, he thought. "For now keep thinking that way."

Leon ran back down the stairs. "Alright, are you ready to go?" He put out his hand.

Henri smiled happily and grabbed Leon's hand. "Let's take Daddy's Jeep too!" The little one demanded. He loved riding in Chris's Jeep.

Leon smiled. "Alright, whatever the birthday boy wants."

Dominique peeked out the window and he saw Leon pull off with Henri. Domi called up the stairs. "They're gone, let's start decorating!"

The other kids ran down and the twins were dragging the decorations down stairs. Domi called Claudio and the omega answered.

"Hello."

"Hey! Mama just left with Henri. How's the food coming along?"

"Oh you know. Gino is hard at work making all the best food and desserts for Henri. We're currently on Cake Pops."

"Great, Dad should be getting the gifts wrapped. Mama will probably be back within 2 hours. SO we need to have everything put together! Mama is depending on us."

"Don't worry we will be there on time."

"Good. See you then. Love you." Domi hung up. And he, Sergio, and the twins started decorating.

While they were decorating and Gino and Claudio were working on the food Lee Yeon and Daisuke were arguing over what bike to get Henri.

"No way this one is waaaay cooler!" Daisuke argued. "And it's his favorite color. Red."

Lee Yeon tsked. "The bike's too big! Henri is still so little, he needs a smaller one."

"He's nine! He'll learn and grow into it!" Claire came back already having picked the drinks and wine and she sighed looking at the two bicker. Chris was successfully getting all the gifts wrapped and Leon and Henri finally made it to their destination. Henri was pulling Leon along so excitedly. THe woman at the front desk smiled. "Hi, I'm Diana. Welcome, you must be Leon and Henri?"

Leon smiled. "You'd be right. I'm Leon, this is Henri. Henri is the one adopting today."

"Wow! How amazing that is such a big responsibility Henri. Are you ready for it?"

"Yes! Mama said I can have a doggy for my birthday."

"Oh my goodness, well that is so sweet. And Happy Birthday Henri!"

"Thank you!" He cheered happily.

"Well... let's take a look, hm? What are you looking for, Henri?"

The little one thought hard. "A puppy but... I don't know what kind of puppy."

"That's okay." The woman said. "We can look at a few."

The woman showed Henri quite a few dogs but none of them really spoke to Henri but there was one dog that was huddled in the corner. And he was black with blue eyes and he looked so sad. Henri ran over and he kneeled down. "Hi puppy." The little one waved and he slowly stuck his hand out. The puppy was a bit hesitant but he slowly came up and sniffed Henri's hand before nudging it and accepting pets. Henri had the biggest grin on his face and he giggled happily.

Diana and Leon looked at each other and she smiled. "I think Henri and that little guy have chosen one another."

"Seems so."

Henri ended up picking that puppy and he held him happily as Leon signed all the adoption papers, scheduled an appointment to bring him back for neutering, and paid for the puppy. Diana even helped them get all the stuff picked out for the pup and Henri was so excited and the little puppy happily wagged his tail in Henri's arms. Their poor dog Zeus had gotten run over 2 years ago and the kids were devastated but Henri more so he adored that dog. Chris and Leon were a bit hesitant about getting another dog but seeing Henri smiling like this. He doesn't regret their choice.

Ellie and Arlo blew up the last set of balloons and Domi tied them all together and placed them in the corner. Just then Gino and Claudio brought in the last bit of food, Chris and Sergio set up the gift table while Chris started the grill. He told them to leave the ribs, burgers, and hot dogs to him. Claire set up the drink bar along with just the standard drinks for the kids. Yeon and Daisuke finally stopped bickering and Yeon had got Henri an electric toy car that was red while Daisuke had got him the red bike. Jill and Rebecca set up the game area while Carlos and Piers were trying to find some music. Leon sent a text letting them know he was just pulling up.

"Mom's coming with Henri! Everyone hide!"

Everyone hid and Leon unlocked the door and walked in with Henri. Henri jumped as soon as he stepped in and confetti popped in his face and he heard horns.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY HENRI!!"

Henri looked at all the decorations, the food, the sweets, all his siblings, auntie's, uncle's and cousins. Henri was surprised so much that the little one just burst into tears. Everyone looked at him worriedly and Leon immediately kneeled down wiping his tears.

"Buddy what's wrong?"

Henri shook his head. "Nothing! This is the best birthday ever!"

Everyone smiled and Carlos cut the music on. "Let's get this party started huh?!"

Sweet little Yuri grabbed Henri's hand. "C'mon Henri!"

Leon and Chris smiled and the alpha came over to his omega and pulled him into his arms. Chris kissed Leon's nose and lips and he looked into his omega's eyes. "What's wrong?"

Leon shook his head. "They're just all so big now..."

Chris gently rubbed his cheek. "I know. But we get to watch them grow into the best human beings ever."

Leon nodded. "I know I just miss them being small."

"I know, baby. I do too." Chris kissed him and they stood there hugging one another for a moment as they watched their baby boy have the most fun on his special day.
