Best B-day Present Ever

Today was my birthday, and Mark, my best friend planned something special, appearantly. He said I needed to wear something party casual. "So there is a party! Who is gonna be there?" I wouldn't stop hounding him.

"(Y/n), this is supposed to be a surprise! And I'm not telling you anything else. Now go get dressed and we can go. Pjs aren't going to cut it." He look at me with that smirk. I blushed and turned away. I had always had a crush on him, since we first met at indiepopcon.

"Ugh, fine! I'll be back in a bit." I run up the stairs, and get dressed in a legend of Zelda tanktop, a light cover, skinny jeans, and red sneakers. Then I put on light makeup and did my hair. I come back downstairs, to see him looking up at me, blushing.

I giggled and said, "take a picture if you like it so much." His face reddened even more and he turned away. "Shut up." He mumbled. I just smiled. "Well, let's go! I have no idea what we're doing, this is your idea." I pull him up and we go out the door. It's the middle of summer, so its really hot.

"God, I made a mistake wearing this cover. It's too hot!" I take it off and tie it around my waist, revealing my shoulders to the sunlight. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Mark blushing again. I just smile. "So, where are we going?"

"Just follow me, you'll see. It's close by, so we can walk." He takes my hand, causing my whole face to get hot. After a bit of walking, we get to a cafe, the one I go to almost every day to draw and drink (fave coffee). I loved to draw. It always helped me feel better when I was having a bad day. "Here, get anything you want, I'll pay."

--time skip--

We sat at the cafe for an hour, just drinking coffee and talking about weird, stupid shit. Then he got a text. He looked at it, then his face lit up. "Hey uh, we can go back to the apartment now, we've been here for a while." We get up, and go to the apartment, which was pitch black. "Hey look for the switch, I can't find it" he says.

I find the switch, and turn it on to a room full of people yelling "SURPRISE!" "Ahh! Jesus, ha-ha. Thank you guys!" Jack, Bob and Wade, and Felix and marzia were all there. Since I started my own youtube channel two years ago, I had met all these people, and became close friends with them. I met Mark this way too, and if it wasn't for youtube, I wouldn't have known him.

For a good couple of hours, we played all kinds of games. Cards against humanity, (which I won by the way) just dance, and a bunch of others. It was the best birthday I've had in a long time! After the party, and everyone left, and it was just me and mark. "Hey (y-n), I know you said no presents, but I wanted to give you this." It was just a simple store bought card, with nothing written in it. Except Mark's handwriting filled up the whole inside.

"Mark, thank you. This is better than a present. Just knowing that you took the time to write me something makes me happy!" I hug him, then start reading the letter.

Dear (y/n),
I know you said no presents, but I still wanted to do at least something for you. And I have to tell you something, too. We haven't known each other for all that long, but its been the best time of my life. Just being by your side and getting to see you laugh has made me really happy, beyond belief. I've never felt like this for anyone before, but I'm glad it was you. I really care about you, and I want you to be happy. But I want to be happy with you. So, I have to ask you something really important. Now look up.

I look up at Mark, who is blushing, but smiling shyly. I set the card down, already knowing what he is going to say, and I hug him. "Yes."

"I didn't even get to ask you yet!"

"I don't care, I just told you the answer, didn't I?" I then cup his face in my hands, and pull him into a kiss. Instantly he kisses back, more passionate every second. He puts his hands on my waist, pulling me in closer. I snake my hands through his hair, and I feel him grinning in the kiss. After a good minute, I pull away.

"(Y/n), I love you."

"I love you too, you big goof!" He laughs, then pull me in for another kiss. Best birthday present ever.
