Xal walked into the bar. He hoped that he would be here... but he couldn't be sure... he wasn't always there. But Xal didn't want to drink alone...but he recognized that hoodie, the one he always wore. He walked over and sat next to him.
"I figured you'd be here," Ace said calmly as Xal sat next to him. He looked at Xal. Two of his four eyes were concealed by his hair and his hood, though that didn't make him look any more normal. His skin was as white as snow, and his eyes were two unnatural colors. Purple and grey. And his pupils were shaped like each of the four suits of cards. His hair was a pleasant shade of purple. He had the bandana he usually wore beside him on the bar counter.
"Of course you did..." Xal said, still guilty about lying to Galnara. He asked the bartender for some shots, then turned back to Ace, who had been staring at him the whole time. Xal had gotten used to this, since Ace always did this. He found it strange at first, but never said anything to Ace about it.
----------time skip--a few rounds of shots later------------
"Hey, Ace?"
"Yeah?"
"Remember that one time that I went over to your place and you stabbed a fucking spider?"
"I was not overreacting! Those bastards are creepy!"
"You stabbed it after screaming and attempting to kill it by throwing a card..."
"Fuck you!"
------------many more rounds of shots later-------------
"And- and he said 'Get that -hic- dog off my lawn!' But it was a -hic- fucking raccoon!" Both of them were nearly suffocating from laughing so hard. They'd both already drank a lot. But neither of them were going to stop.

Xal had long since gone quiet, his thoughts muddled from the alcohol. He was starting to doze off. Ace was still talking. The last thing Xal remembered before falling asleep was hearing a notification on his phone. It couldn't be anything that important, could it?
