If some stuff doesn't make sense, maybe read Won't You Look My Way? It's just the previous chapter from Ace's POV. Enjoy!

Xal woke up on Ace's couch. Ace must have brought him there when he fell asleep. He sat up. Ace was nowhere to be seen... Xal wondered what he was doing. His head hurt a little from how much he had drank the previous night. He sat up and was about to stand up when Ace walked out of the kitchen with a bowl of cereal.
"Oh, good, you're awake," Ace said. "It's already past 3:00 PM. I think you should check your phone notifications. Someone might've texted you." He sat down in an armchair and started eating his cereal. "Do you want anything to eat?"
"Nah, I'm not hungry," Xal replied. He reached into his pocket for his phone. It wasn't there.
"Your phone fell out of your pocket. It's on the end table next to you," Ace said.
"Thanks," Xal responded. "Did you see who it was?"
"I saw a text from an unsaved number. I swiped the notification, but it might be someone you know."
"Alright, thanks," Xal said. "I know who it is." Ace didn't reply. He sat silently, not looking at Xal. Which was a little strange, since Ace was always staring. Xal decided to brush it off. He typed his password in and opened his messages app.
***-***-****: Hey Xal, It's Nara! Just telling you so you can save my number!
Xal: Alright, I've got it saved
Nara: Awesome!
Ace remained silent and looking away from Xal. Xal was getting confused now. "Are you alright?"
"Huh? Yeah... Why are you asking?" Ace replied, finally looking at him.
"You're just acting... strange," Xal said, sounding somewhat worried. Before Ace had a chance to reply, Xal got another message from Galnara.
Nara: What are you doing?
Xal: I'm at a friend's place
Nara: Oh! Who?
Xal: Idk if you know him, his name's Ace
Nara: The guardian of chance? The gambler?
Xal: Yeah, him
Nara: Cool!
Xal put his phone into his pocket. Ace was still looking at him. He was finally acting more normal... good. He had finished his cereal and set the bowl next to him on an end table. "So, did you sleep well?" Ace asked.
"Yeah... My head hurts a little though..."
"Not my fault. You chose to drink that much."
"Fuck you." Xal said. Ace chuckled. He was always teasing Xal. Xal used to hate it, but after knowing him for a long time, he'd grown to be comfortable with it. "Anyways, I should probably go back to my place. Or see Galnara. If she's fine with that..."
"You can stay if you'd like. But I won't force you to stay," Ace said.
Xal thought about it. It won't hurt to stay a while, will it?
"Sure, I guess I'll stay." Xal replied.
"Do you want to play a game or something..?" Ace asked awkwardly, he clearly hadn't expected Xal to stay.
"Sounds fun, what do you wanna play?"
"Are you fine with a card game?"
"Sure... What game? Bridge? Spades?"
"I was more thinking something like Uno..." Ace said "Also, Bridge and Spades both need four people..."
"Oh."
