I was so nervous to meet his father's side family here. All they speak is Arabic and only few knows Malayalam. I adjusted with them speaking in English, Ammi did pat me the moment i stammered Infront of them.
Aishhhh!!!! I feel so embarrassed, I swear!!
But their expression was completely different. I didn't expect it....They were all too friendly with me. Especially caring and showing me everything in the palace like villa where his whole family gathers once in a week.
Shahid leans onto grandma as she speaks something that I couldn't understand, "Ana asf lieadam tamakuni min hudur hafl zifaf hafidik" She signals me to sit beside her and I take a seat beside her.
SHAHID SAIF
"Ana asifa lieadam tamakuni min hudur hafl zifafak hafidi" Grandma says patting my head as I kneel to take her blessing.
(I am sorry for not being able to attend your wedding grandson)
"La bas ya jadati, duaaik takfina" I reply smiling at her as she kisses my forehead smiling.
Grandma signals Shifa and she takes a seat beside her still clueless what we are talking about. But I like this side of her, the clueless one but still cute tilting her head dumbfoundedly.
(That's alright grandma, Your prayer is all enough for us)
"Ivan ninne nannayi nokkinindo mwole?" Grandma immediately switches to Malayalam seeing Shifa clueless. A smile forms within her as she realizes my granny knows Malayalam too.
(Is he treating you well dear?)
"Ningal ennoda choykkande aval enne nannayi nokkinindo enn." I pout interrupting their convo. (You should ask me if she is treating me well)
Granny smacks my head stating "Mindathirikkada begde, Nee nokkinindo enn enik aryanm. Kaaranam enik nannayi arya nee thiranjedtha penn nalla penkutti aayrkm. Neyahn Aal."
(Shut up idiot, I want to know if you're treating her well. Because I already know, if you chose a girl she will be perfect. It's you we are talking about)
Shifa chuckles replying to her question "Pedikkanda granny, avan nannayi nokknind." (Don't worry grandma, he is treating me very well)
And they continue chatting ignoring me as a smile forms within me watching their fast-bonding.
Author's POV
Weeks went by as they both spent their honeymoon visiting different places in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Al-Ain and Ras Al Khaimah.
It was a splendid vacation for both of them to clear off their mind and to only focus on each other. Finally it was time to return to India from United Arab Emirates. They had their flights arranged tomorrow.
Shahid receives a call from his secretary Arun. He answers it only to hear his words "Sir. It's urgent. I have to talk with you alone for a moment."
"Sure go ahead." Shahid replies already in the living room as not to disturb the sleeping Shifa in the room.
"I-It's about Nahima. RK companies President came into our office and since none of you were here, Zaakir uncle confronted him. "
"WHAT THE FUCK!! WHO IS HE TO SET HIS FOOT ON MY COMPANY??" Shahid raises his voice on the other end and eventually lowers it as he remembers his Amira is sleeping in the next room.
"Who allowed him?" Shahid questions.
"Uh- Sir.. to be honest, That president named Altaf was with Zaakir when he entered our company and he stated 'If you dare lay a hand on Sir Zaakir I will turn this company upside down.' And later.... I received a word that during their meeting, Altaf asked Nahima's hand-in-marriage and Zaakir made a deal with him since none of you were available here."
